@Ravager
I agree, the new crop of Asian influenced phones are fugly! Take one look at the W300/Z530 to find out why. And now the K800, don't get me started...

I read Esato's article say: "Could this be the answer to Vertu?!?!?"

Obviously not! Like asking: would a Hyundaï coupé be the answer to Ferrari...

Come on, be serious.
Vertu is about beautiful handcrafted phones, using exclusive materials etc.

This black diamond looks like another piece of plastic. The only thing it could pretend to compete with is for example Nokia 8800. Sure, the design is interesting, but certainly does not stand out like a Vertu does and certainly cannot pretend to be exclusive.

I think the poster was referring to the design aspect rather than comparing the manner and material from which the devices are constructed.

I think personally Vertu products are over priced (for what they are) and poorly styled devices,

Sure, they are made from exotic materials, and I can only speak with any kind of authority on the precious metal editions, wich look to me very much like lost wax castings or machine pressings cleaned up on a production line by probably semi skilled labour, leaving only the setting of precious stones and polishing to reflect the true craftsman’s art. (I used to work for Asprey, Cartier and the like as a jeweller in a previous life!) to do the job properly would make them truly expensive items!

How do you know that it will never go into production?...This time last year i dont think any of us would have believed it if someone told us that was going to produce a Cybershot branded 3.2 MP phone...so never say never!

Has it ever occured to you guys that there are people out there who hardly use their phones for functions other than sms and voice calls? This phone will appeal to such people even if it didn't have respectable specs. The bottom line would be that it would be classy to carry around. I for one know about 11 people who would buy this phone immediately, if it ever hit the shelves.
