Ok what we need now is an exact step by step including file names etc (read FOOLPROOF) guide on how to do this on P990i.
Anybody up for the challenge?

Well...what that I've done, succeed anyway.
Follow Sainty steps.
Just make sure to rename the files (2 actually) you downloaded same as the files inside the blob_fs directory and then replace the original in the blob_fs to the newly renamed.
The tricky part is to select the files to be replaced. Just find the file that has same filesize or very near in bytecounts. 1 file is 3++ bytes and the other is 4++ bytes.
Goodluck guys.

I just re-download the files from my google group to make sure they can be downloaded, well...downloaded just fine.

Here's the method...(taken and modified from secentral forum)
1. If you run SEUS for the first time for your P990i, you will have to go on with the procedure of updating the firmware (whether or not you got the latest one), just proceed with it. Shows "whatever original firmware" version.
2. By running the updating, it does create 2 files which is 3++byte and another which is 4++byte.
3. Rename the 3++byte and 4++byte file from the rar downloaded identical to the 3++byte and 4++byte in blob_fs folder.
4. You will have to turn on the phone and finish setting it up b4 updating it the second time with SEUS. Still shows "whatever original firmware" but proceed with it anyway. Since first time already download the files, it will just proceed with the updating firmware.
5. Turn on the phone again, and set it up. This time status screen a bit messed up, sometime displaying both CDA /ori and /1.
6. Turn it off and update it again the 3rd time.
7. This time, SEUS doesnt show version anymore, instead says "Latest software already installed" or something that says you have the latest update. Just click proceed / install anyway / update anyway. Then it will download new files, and then update your phone.
8. Turn on your phone again. Wait till language selection shows up and viola... Now time to check your new cda.
If I lest / miss anything please feel free to ask. TQ

Sometime, if you get lucky as I always does..(haha), in step 7. when you update the software, it's already identified as World Generic 1 in SEUS. Proceed updating because at this time it will download again full version of GW1 files to your computer before updating your phone firmware.

I have two 4xx byte files, one is 445 bytes and the other is 428 bytes. The 3xx file can only be the one thats 355 bytes.
So which 4xx byte file do I replace?

The file that has closest size to my uploaded one (423 bytes) is obviously closest to the 428 bytes one you mentioned in size, so I think that's the one. That's my decision when making my choice.
I've done changing my CDA twice using those methods, I think it should be the same with other CDA / file combination.
