Incidentally you don't need to turn off UAC. Some of us actually endure it such that we can engineer applications that don't invoke it

.
To elevate the .msi for installation do the following:
Start
Type 'cmd' to search for the command console
Right-click on cmd when found
Choose 'Run As Administration'
Now navigate in your cmd window to the .msi (eg. cd \users\administrator\desktop\_xxx)
Type the name of the file: Sony Ericsson PC Suite.msi
Hit enter and you're done. Whole installation will run elevated.
You still need the reboot, but that's two reboots less (save one for not turning UAC off and another for turning it back on again).

As a side question - what happened to the promised Q2 release of PC Suite from SE? tut tut - late again.

I have found a way of getting it to work. if you download the latest version (the one that says the phone is now connected) When you go to install click on custom click on mobile networking wizard and select not to install it. It has worked every time for me.
Hope this will work for some of you too.
I have found if I have a problem getting things to run, in properties, compatability tick xp and tick the 3 boxes with disable and I have found I can get things to work
