Placebo? So what you're saying is that my phone was faulty and now I'm imagining its working again? What utter rubbish. All I can say is try it yourself instead of making stupid and unhelpful comments!

Night_66 and Kalleboo.... are you suffering from unresponsive joysticks? If so, try the WD40 like nearly all the K800i users on this site have done, and then come back to us with your findings. Night_66 said it was a firmware issue... myself and Red_Rach already have the latest firmware, and we still have the joystick problem.
You can't argue with the results.
I tried your firmware explanation... all I ask is you have an open mind, and try my solution.

WD40 is safe. More than a year ago, my sister accidentally dropped her siemens phone into a red thick spicy sauce that similar to spaghetti sauce. The sauce got into the internal of the phone. Her husband immediately dismantled the phone and sprayed WD40 liberally to the board and IC until the sauce dripped completely together with the WD40 liquid. Then he air dried the board for a couple of hours and assembled it back. The phone still works to this day without a hitch.

Nah, you spray a very small amount onto the end of a cotton bud (flatten the end first) then just just it to clean around the joystick.... alternatively, download the lastest firmware.... oh wait... you've probably already got it... like the rest of us who are suffering from this problem have(!)

Thanks for all the response guys - positive and negative.
Couple of things:
- I've just got my phone back from having the firmwire upgraded and joystick looked at. Same problem! the joystick is still funky!
I've gotta say that this phone has been quite a let-down as I was assured this joystick thing wouldn't happen like it did with my k750i.
Not to mention the already flogged-to-death issues like the lack of a memory card when new, lousy mp3, player. worse battery life and no flashlight.
Yes folks, i know that the REAL CAMERA flash thing is a big hoo-ha, but its not that good a flash anyway. My wife has my k750i now and I miss it soooo much. Give me LED's over this pansy flash any day.
This joystick thing is just the cherry on the top for me!
Looks like they spent all the money they should have put into developing the phone into a marketing overkill.
Imagine James Bond going "Hey, my joystick doesn't work!"

b@lls! This is the last SE phone I'll buy cuz clearly you guys out of touch with the needs of us plebs who buy your stuff!
