The unit I had didnt have t9.. but who would wanna use the flip to write SMS anyway, because it is really not good to write on.. the buttons dont react always to what I write and so on.. I Will mostly use the phone without its flip, thats for sure!

That was what I was worried about. I have tested and found that my wpm (words per minute) is faster on T9 than on Graffitti (Palm) or Virtual Keyboard (Palm too). It also doesn't make sense for example when you are in a subway with one hand hanging on to a bar to have to reply an SMS with TWO hands, one holding the phone, the other holding the stylus. I think the virtue of a T9 number pad is way underrated.
The Orange SPV is starting to catch my eye, but we don't have Orange in this part of the world, and the Smartphone OS has been reported to be slow.

If t9 is something the people are missing, I am certain that there will be software avaiable to install on the phone that gives you t9, t9 isnt the only word recognition software on the market you know

P800 is a Symbian OS phone so somebody could always write an application for T9 SMS input and you could easily install it on your device.

I`m confused now, I read a test via a link on this forum that said t9 was available with the keypad in place,but not in "open" mode, but real keypad pushes onto the virtual one anyway so it must have t9 on virtual keypad, maybe it`s just missing in the virtual keyBOARD entry mode.or in the "writing on screen" mode. i`m sure it will have it.

Does anyone here develop for Symbian OS 7.0???
I haven't seen any programs out for the P800. I getting a little worried. I also have not seen "sheet" on OS 7.0. "Sheet" is the spreadsheet program that normally comes on a symbian device.

No T9 on my phone. I have not used the Jotter either, I just like the virtual keyboard too much and I have been pretty quick with the tap over the T9 input from my V70 & T68i anyway. I get bent out of shape composing a sentence and adding quotation marks, symbols, etc. that require extra button pushing on T9 whereas the virtual keyboard is like a type writer and because I type, I go instinctively to the correct letter instead of having to look at my phone keys to see which number the letter "q" is on. You can send SMS without opening the keyboard using the thumb dial, but the input is limited to the basic tap. I find the keyboard presses require just the right amount of pressure in my opinion. Firm, but positive response and feedback. If it were very easy to push, the phone would enter numbers or text while in your pocket from pressure on the keys unless you lock them, and unlocking the keys everytime I pull it out, gets irritating. to me.
Yes, you can set the messaging tones to your favorite, I have a little bird play when I receive an SMS and a locomotive play when I get voice mail. It is all very cool, and when I can get my software to download my favorite song hook, it will be much more fun. IF you want to see a particular menu item, let me know and I will take a photo of it and post.
The menu cannot be accessed via tap with the flip closed, but the thumb wheel takes over and you can access everything with it. It is very neat but takes a little practice. It operates in 5 different directions and the effect is very similar to windows operating system. Of course you cannot access the virtual keyboard and some other operating systems, but why would you want to if the flip were closed. All in all a very intelligent and streamlined operating system. I love the little wheel, but alas, I am still trying to master the phone features, ringtones, and did I mention I can browse the internet just like my desktop? Too many features to learn them all in a week.

Im gonna start developing for symbian - i usually develop for palm, but apparently its not that much of a learning curve.
Does the P800 have video recording functionality - uif not ill start writing a video recording prog 4 it
