As i said with the set up i use i don't find it lacking in treble, bass or anything else in fact i can quite honestly say i get a better quality sound using what i do then listening to the Cd's with an Alpine head unit and speakers in the car. I can hear every instrument and effect clearly defined with a nice rich soundstage and if it wasn't better i wouldn't use it in car as that would be pointless. Besides the fact it means i don't disturb the dog with loud music or have to listen to his very loud barking at Motorbikes.

I use AAC at 160Kbps bitrate also (ripped using dbpoweramp). Contrary to popular opinion, you do not need disc2phone to put music on your SE phone. You can use any tool you like to rip the audio (even itunes) and manually drag and drop the tracks ont to the memory card.

Something to remember about MP3 and AAC. The AAC codec can compress more than mp3 for the same resultant audio quality; it's a better codec than mp3. An AAC ripped at 160Kbps has the same quality as an mp3 track ripped at 192Kbps, but is smaller in size so more efficient for storage.

Thanks for that information i never new that about MP3 v AAC conversion it isn't actually why i have done it that way. But would i notice any real difference in quality if i bothered to convert to a higher AAC bit rate for use in my E61?

As i really am not worried about taking up more space on a memory card in the slightest especially if it really does effect the quality.

true indeed. AAC encoding does offer more quality at the same bitrate compared to mp3.

that's the headphone experience for you, especially with the ones you have. cut out the ambient noise, you get pure sound. on bitrates, if you're happy with the ones you're using why not stick with it. how high the bitrates go is a matter of personal choice, some people tend to have a psychological reaction that higher bitrates equal better sound, even if they do not actually perceive the difference in quality. at the end of the day it's a matter of how sensitive your ears are, and what they're satisfied with.

I tend to agree. I've done alittle testing on the difference between 160 and 192kbps AAC, and haven't noticed a huge difference on the phone. But as yet I need to do more exhaustive testing. I'll get around to it one of these days, but I certainly find 160AAC satisfactory.

so does P1 have same sound quality as walkman phones? i mean since it lacks megabass as compared to w950i but can be altered through the equalizer... so wats the use of mega bass then?

and some ppl say that there's gonna be a camera version of w950i ... wats it called?

btw..is nokia e61i a good phone to listen to music to.. ^^

to speak the truth... i have fetish for phones with large screens, especially touch screens, and plays music well.. but only for Nokia and SE... i dun really like those official PDA brand phones..

as of now, not much is known about the p1i's performance yet, but you can try basing it on the previous P series, since I don't think not much would change there in terms of music performance. and personally, I don't think much of Megabass, it's just a marketing term as far as I'm concerned. some users would swear that when you turn the bass up in the ordinary media player's equalizer, you can replicate Megabass, but I wouldn't know. you can read in some threads comparing the normal media player with the Walkman player.

as in like the walkman phone is 60% impt, while the earpiece is 40% impt.. or not impt at all which would be 0%... thanks..

btw p1 has the ear pice.. 3.5 mm adapter?

the music player determines the quality of sound that goes to the earpiece, it processes the music file and produces an output which goes to the earpiece. the earpiece's function is to reproduce the output provided by the music player. in terms of importance, I'd say music player 70/30 earpiece? the source (media player) must be more important than the end product (music coming out from earpiece) IMO. you can have the best headset out there, but it wouldn't be of any use if the music produced by the player is crap, you'd just end up reproducing the crap sounds coming from the player (albeit more accurately ).

and I don't notice that the p1i has got a 3.5mm jack, I might be wrong though on this...

just had a look at PK's prototype and didn't notice any 3.5mm jack.
