I've taken a photo of it using my K850 and would like feedback and your opinions. The LED display does not turn on while photos are being taken.

Hi, I haven't seen a real one but it looks fake. The remote is meant to have an e-ink display which judging from the photo on page 1 covers the full width. Yours looks like it has a little lcd screen in the centre like somone took the casing and put cheaper electronics inside.

Hello,

Thanks for your info. I might of well as bought it from buy.com

I've raised a dispute and they've asked me to call their customer service number. They 'think' it's faulty but I'll press for a refund.

I too noticed that the screen quality should have been a lot better. The earphones for sure are fake as they really sound tinny and keep falling out. (I've used many kinds of buds for years and all of them were the same size and fit snug).

Let's see what happens!

That is totally fake...
The real one should have a O-LED display, and that one is just a old LCD display.

Hi folks,
I bought one yesterday. Here's a very short review of mine, hopefully it's of some interest to some of you.

HandsFree: Sony Ericsson HPM-90
Purchased at: Elgiganten store at Kungsgatan, Stockholm Sweden.
Purchased when: 3 Dec 2007
Purchased for: 499SEK, that's about 79USD?

My Setup
Mobilephone: Sony Ericsson S500i Green
Memorycard: Memory Stick Micro 2Gb
SW ver: CXC1123326 R6B C002 070607
In-ear phones: Sony MDR-EX71. These are my well trusted, better-sounding earphones. The original ones that came with the handsfree are fine, probably switch to them the day my EX71 dies.

***Note that the in-ear phones in the pic are my own, and not the ones that came with package***

The back side has a semi glossy surface that ressembles the original SE picture, the front is more dull, matt black.
Cable length from phone plug to remote is about 76cm, remote to mic unit roughly 16cm. A clip is attached on the cable between the remote and mic. 2 pairs of extra in-ear plugs(large/small) came with the kit.

Plugging it in!

S500i recognizing the handsfree model when plugged-in. The Walkman Logo and time is briefly displayed on the handsfree display.

Lets Play!

Pressing the play button on the hands-free launches the Music Player and starts playing the latest chosen track, even if the phone key lock is ON. The artists name and track title is displayed on the (horizontal scrolling) screen for about 10 seconds then goes blank untill the next time you manually change tracks or press the STOP button. Nothing is displayed when the current track ends and automatically goes to the next track. Artists name and track title scroll vertically when manually changing tracks. The display(width 2cm) is NOT identical to the one on the SE picture.

Changing Volume

The volume level is displayed when +/- is pressed.

Look who's calling/You got mail!!
The number or caller name is displayed when an incomming call/message is received.

Bugs and/or unimplemented features. You decide.
Issues mentioned below only apply my S500i with it's current SW. I have no idea if these problems exists with other phone models/SW.

1. (**This issue is resolved. See edit note at the end of this post**)Fast-forwarding is not available on the remote.
Press+hold on my phone will fast-forward the track with audio, Press+hold on the remote = nothing.
Press+hold(about 3s) then release on the remote will cause the track to fast-forward with NO audio. Only way to stop it is to press back-skip button, (this will skip to the beginning of the current track and play from there) or forward-skip and the next track starts playing. So no way of fast-forwarding to a section of the track and play from there.

2. If the Music Player is launched by pressing the PLAY-button on the remote then you minimize the player letting it run in the background, lets say to check your in-box, you will not be able to re-enter the Music player "Now playing". Only way is to either stop Music player with the remote, or choose a new Artist/Track/playlist on the phone.

Short Conclusion
Am I happy with the HPM-90? Yes, very.

I'll keep you posted if anything new pops up.

Hope this helps.
/Dante

Edit #1 2007-12-04: Was so eager to try this thing on my way home on the bus that I threw away the package and probably the manual if there was one.

Added comment on the extra in-ear plugs.

Edit #2 2007-12-05: I updated the phone SW today (CXC1123326 R8BA024 071010). Bug issue 1 mentioned above is resolved. Fast-forwarding/reversing works as it should.

Hello again - the ebay seller was First2Save. They've given me an address to send it back and I will post it today.

Thanks prakashpn007 for your review, mine looks the same as yours although I'm sure that the screen display should be bigger. The plastic on the mic and earphones should be shiny black and not dull.

I could not believe how poor the supplied earphones were - no bass at all and they sounded really quiet.

Using my creative buds - it sounds a bit louder and better, still I am not impressed.

Best wishes,

Uzicorp
