I too would have to agree that the K800 takes better pics than the K850. Its almost as if the K850 has the exact same CMOS sensor as the K800, and its just upscaling the images to 5mp sizes.

You have an argument to support it?

Yeah, the pictures are larger - but the detail just isn't there. And what little extra detail does come in gets totally butchered by horrible noise reduction algorithms.

Really?

Overall i'd have to say that neither the K850 or the N82 are worthy of being called 5mp cameraphones, as their pictures are completely unusable at 100% view size.

What's the size of the screen you have and do you have any compact cam to compare the differences with examples?

Fine details are totally lost due to compression and noise reduction, and it looks like someone smeared vaseline over the picture. Shrunken down to 50% size, both suddenly become far better looking, but i'd have to say the N82's are more appealing due to better exposure and color definition.

Probably you have any of the phones subjected here so you can demonstrate with your examples how good Nokia is.

Have you read the topic with attention or this is just your blow out of the blue?

I never actually said that the K850 has a K800 sensor. However, the results the K850 produces are no better than if thats what was actually going on. I don't have a K800 to test with, but if someone has both a K800 and a K850, I challenge you to do this test:

1.) Take a picture of the same scene with both phones. Preferably outdoors with good lighting for best results.
2.) Increase the size of the picture taken by the K800 to 5mp resolution (2592x1944) using Photoshop or Paint shop pro.
3.) Take a 100% crop from the same spot from both images.

If you do this, I can almost guarantee that the K850 will not look much, if at all better than the picture taken by the K800.

As for the N95/82 taking better pictures, I feel its mostly a matter of personal taste. Both take pretty horrible pictures, but I find the N82 shots more appealing.

Ok, I decided to put my own theory to the test. I don't have both phones to try with, however there are people online that do. Using a comparison done by Mobile Review's review of the K850 and K800, I followed the exact steps I outlined before. Here are the results:

Can you guess which one is the K800 and which one the K850? You might be surprised at the result.

I think this pretty much proves my point that the K850 takes absolutely NO better pictures than the older K800.

Very good! Please any owners of both phones mentioned above to step up and provide a same detail crop out of the same resolution. Photos on equivalent settings and K800/810 must be with standard drivers. I know it is off topic but sure gives a light over the situation.

I'll sell my K850i and buy K800 then. It was a waste of money if that's true...

Here again are the exact same pictures, now reduced by 50% for "normal" viewing. Which one is better? Do you really see more, sharper details in one than the other?

I'm sorry, but this is pathetic. Anyone with a K800 can simply blow up their images to 5mp size, and they would have exactly the same image quality as what the K850 takes.

I rest my case.

And for the record, the K800 is on the left, the K850 on the right.

We went off topic and I believe many members will have something to say about it. Sorry for being utterly pathetic, but I seems I have wasted the money. Look here:

Why are you people analysing plankgatan's shrunken pict? This is totally erroneous and stupid. There are tonnes of N82 / K850 in full resolution out there like these in the reviews:-

Looking at the following we can clearly see that N82 takes better picture in MOST situation. If you cannot see that with your NAKED eyes, you should have your eyes checked
