No. You have to press the volume button. This Will show the standby clock and also any other symbol eg. an envelope if you have a message.
K750 run's on an older software platform than the T700 and there have been a few changes since the K750's release.

I'm about to buy the T700 and it seems you can't. I would have a hard time getting used to a standard message sound...

Yes can use mp3's as message tones but you will only hear the first 7 seconds of the tone and then it will stop.

Mine is 5 months old and I didn't see any stratch, except one but that's because I drop it onto the asphalt
