Clearing GPS cache might solve it? Go to Service menu > Service Test > GPS > Clear cache

I have a C905 too. So far, no gps data is being recorded in the exif data. The Google Maps on the C905 seems to work location out ok from what you guys are saying is the cell id but that's useless when I want to geotag my photos for flickr, etc.
I mean what's the point of having GPS in a phone if the software doesn't support it?
Anyway looks like I should try updating the firmware - is there a way of telling what version my phone is running currently?

Burn it in a fire. Or throw it against the wall. In my recent experiences with SE geo tagging it seems that even with the location app running in the background, having a good fix, outside, and standing in the same spot for at least 2 minutes, it still does not add the proper GPS tags. I've sent my C702 back to SE and got it back with about 10 photos on it of someone's feet in an alley. Only 3 of those had the proper GPS tags.
Compare this to my Nokia 5800, also with geo tagging enabled, I took the ferry to France and even inside the boat the photo's I made all had the proper GPS exif data, giving me a nice line across the Channel on Picasa. The fixes on the 5800 are also much faster (both phones have a-gps enabled) and the 5800 hasn't failed me once adding the GPS tags properly. And yes, I made sure both phones have good signal before pressing the button. SE just hasn't got a chance in my experience. I've had 3 C702's so far all with the same problems.
I highly doubt I will be buying any more SE camera phones, my next phone will most likely be a Nokia again. This is after me being a SE customer from my first phone (see avatar).
tl;dr SE geo tagging is too unstable and unreliable.
