you are deluding yourself.
-SE did not put out the first camera phone, nor where they the first to put out autofocus on a camera phone
-SE have never been innovative in anything
-music-wise, they have been well and truly surpassed. they now trail the top 4 brands in audio quality. their walkman brand was based on the 'sony' walkman, but sony never invented the walkman.
I'm not talking about innovation.
I'm talking about the quality which SE put into fonz...
& many guys here can favour my opinion. ANd Im also trying to conclude that SE are now not at that quality. Many other companies have push back SE in these fields now. That's all what I wanted to say.
Anyways friend ,Thanx to reply me.

You did say that SE was the company to pioneer cameras into phones and the first to put in auto focus, which means that you're trying to say that SE was the first to have those functions in a cellphone.

I'm conscious about SE just becoz they are the pioneers to put a Digicam.. in mobile phone (Dont forget 'auto focus' functionality).
They also have a brilliant history regarding music field. So on these two strong basis they must lead the mobile fon industry & should keep it up.
But now the runner-ups have reached SE,
SE...! keep innova8ing (just lyk Samsung have done)

Where did I say that?
However, SE did play a huge part in the commercialization of cameraphones.
And I repeat, saying that SE has never innovated is plain wrong. Maybe they haven't exactly "wowed" us lately, but you should just wait for MWC.

SE not innovating? That's not true mate. Who do you think invented the swivel form factor? And who was the first to put a xenon flash and an active lens cover on a cameraphone? How about the first phone with an inbuilt FM transmitter? Those are just off the top of my head.

name one thing that SE has developed where all other manufacturers have copied?
moto invented the swivel - check your facts.
i don't know about the xenon or the active lens, but i would bet my life that neither were done be SE.
the first phone with an inbuilt radio was a nokia - check your facts

Brightspark, I think you don't know differences between FM Transmitter and Radio. Check your knowledge mate.

Ok, I wasn't too sure about the swivel form factor, but I guess they did invent the arc QWERTY slider with the X1.
Oh, and the K800 was the first phone with a xenon flash and the K750 was the first phone with an active lens cover, as far as memory serves.
Anyways, this MWC SE will announce some pretty neat stuff, trust me.

SE is repeating Nokia's errors ...using the same phone under different names, the 3 new phones are the clones of the G705,k850..
SE doesn't propose something new with Wow effect, iphone is a legend for nearly 2 years just because they invented the first finger touch cell phones,Nokia doesn't propose 1 touch expensive model but 2 s60 touch models and one of them aka 5800 is not expensive at all, touch and large screens are the future of cell phones but SE doesn't understand that, added to that catastrophic bugs like the BROD on k850...
What could help SE:
-A marketing positioning based on a WoW effect,ex: tremendous gfx chip for superb games(iphone does it allready).
-More screen sizes and not stick to 2.0,2.2 and 2.4 people want 2.8 to 3.5''
-Fast new Menu
-Lot more touch phones

technology innovation is not the only key for a phone maker to survive....management innovation is another key which I do feel SE lacking after the success of W810.
same to Motorola which seem to be even worst in term of reinventing themselve.....
BTW V70 from Motorola is the first swivel phone but that never rotate the screen. When SE come out with S700, Motorola have V80.
a lot of innovation from SE inherit from Ericsson....lithium polymer battery for instance...E/// or SE is among the first using it. Putting GSM phone with color screen more than 3 color (at 256 color)...E/// and SE T68 is the first one (first color I think is Siemens S25 which I used to owned one)
FM transmitter....W980 isn't the first one....when it was out, there's another Nokia N series having it but this seem not able to popularized due to regulation at different country for FM transmission.
Honestly SE innovation is more towards their industrial design when T610 was out....after that, it slowly reduces the innovation as there's nothing much that can over take that phone.....tht is a life safer phone for SE in 2003 and what SE need now is another design that at least match the success of T610.

i'm glad someone realises this about ericsson. the most inventive brands throughout the history of mobile phones are:
-motorola (yes, moto have been reinventing themselves in the last 2 years. but throughout the history of the mobile phone, there are few that can touch motorola in terms of innovation and their pervasive influence throughout the mobile phone world, even today)
-siemens (a forgotten brand, but responsible for much of the features that are considered standard in phones today)
-ericsson
the above 3 brands make up about 90% of all innovations in the world of mobile phone. sony ericsson, in contrast, has contributed nothing. zilch. nadir. i
in 2009, we can all see the following trends running throughout sony ericsson:
-backwards technology(they have been well and truly overtaken by the top 4 brands in all aspects)
-overly expensive for what they offer. they are offering relatively low quality phones with relatively few features at overly high prices.
-consistently and recurringly glitchy software and relatively poorly constructed hardware
-boring copy&paste designs lacking in innovation, imagination, and aesthetic appeal.
-falling sales and profits
