Sorry, but just because Dolby Mobile is optimised for mobile hardware, it doesnt mean it can work unless it is added into it, which in the case of the I Phone, it isnt.
The I Phone took 16 months to sell 1 Million units in the UK, the N95 sold that many in a single year. It still underperformed and didnt reach as large an audience as was expected.
And why exactly is having to wait untill june to get the basic features on a phone working a good thing?
They should have already been working from the release of the phone.

Just because two phones are similar does not in any way imply that the latter could not have existed without the first.
But again, the only thing that you keep on bragging on about the I Phone is its apps - I couldnt care the slightest bit if no apps are ever released for my phone because I never use them. I looked through the apps that some people use on the I Phone and they are mostly junk. None of the apps you continuously mention in your defence of the I Phone matter to me in the slightest.
I have no regrets over buying the LG, but I would have plenty if I had wasted my money on an I Phone instead.
Basically from what I see here, your I Phone needs apps and a very late software update to give it the same functionality as not just LG, but just about everysingle SE, Nokia and HTC and everyone else. Any benefits that apps give you are just merely software, which I couldnt give a fudge about because I would have no need to fill up my storage with apps that I am never ever going to have a use for - my LG doesnt need apps or an OS update because it already does what it should right out of the box. You need your apps and updates to add features, and to compromise for what your phone lacks. You couldnt be happy with an I Phone without apps, and neither could I, but I am happy with the phones that I get without ever needing to use any apps.
Do continue enjoying your apps, but at the same time, you still have a weak, overpriced and underspecified phone.
You said somewhere that there were apps to help doctors with drug information or something. In case you didnt realise, mobile phone use is kind of like banned for all medical staff working in clinics and hospitals, so these apps are of no use to doctors. Also if I went to see a doctor and saw them using a mobile phone, I wouldnt really be as impressed as you might be.

But what gets "added in"? A big Dolby chip? Dolby speakers? No. Just an alternative set of software drivers that any manufacturer working with virtually any off-the-shelf sound chip could use, either in a new product or retrospectively. Oh, and that Dolby logo on the box of course (but that's not at all a marketing gimmick).

Considering that the original iPhone (unsurprisingly) only sold around 200,000 in the UK, that means the iPhone 3G's sold 800,000 in just 8 months (from it's June release to the end of February). O2 certainly don't agree that it "underperformed", in fact they attribute much of their considerable success in the UK last year to the iPhone -

Why is your inability to extend the features of your phone a good thing? At the end of the day Apple are about the complete the existing iPhone's feature set, and then perhaps go well beyond it, while your Arena will be the same dumb phone in 18 months that came out of the box yesterday.

Yes, because the networks demanded it. That innovation didn't come from SE or Nokia but from the network's pushing of MMS as a new revenue channel.
Although Apple obviously saw the virtue of a camera in the original iPhone, MMS wasn't an early priority for them, since they were concentrating on what their potential customers actually used rather than what pleased the networks.

I don't believe even you could pretend that the Arena doesn't borrow heavily from a number of unique iPhone design features. We're not talking about the ability to make calls over the mobile phone network, we're talking about the design of the icons, the layout of the menus, the animations, the touch gestures - all a cheap imitation of the real thing.

Actually I didn't say anything about that at all, that was someone else's post, but it doesn't matter. All you're doing here is putting your ignorance on record once again. Of course the medical community use apps like these on mobile devices, they're not at all unique to the iPhone but have been popular on Windows Mobile for years and Palm devices before that, the iPhone's just the latest and best platform for it - and yes, doctors (and some patients, and carers) are buying and using those apps in hospitals, GP practices, medical schools, and everywhere else they're needed. One of them might even save your life one day. The fact that you're busily trying to deny realities like this just demonstrates why you're not exactly best placed to be telling adults how irrelevant the iPhone is.

I cant extend the features of my phone because the features are are already perfect and working as they should be out of the box. It is still a far better functioning device on release then the I Phone has been throughout its existence up untill whenever the OS3 update is released.
The browser may not be perfect, but do yourself a favor and google for Mozilla Fennex. Once it gets released I really couldnt care less about the inbuilt browser, at least the hardware that I paid for does exactly what it shoulde out of the box, rather then having to wait over a year for an OS update to make it work.
I dont understand why I Phone users are so proud about a software update that will bring basic functions like MMS and Bluetooth to your handset, I firmly believe this crap to be much more major marketing bull s... then a phone which support dolby mobile.
The LG Arena is marketed as a multimedia device for music and movie playback, dolby mobile greatly improves both these areas - if it sounds vastly better then any SE Walkman handset does, then I strongly doubt that this is just a software change, my ears are definately telling me that my phone has superior audio processing and better speakers then any other phone I have ever used.
Phones only need software updates if there is something wrong with them and if they arent working right, theres a big hint as to why your rubbish I Phone is in need of its OS update something like a year after its initial release just to add MMS, blue tooth and copy paste. Wow, your so happy about updating your I Phone to work a little bit more like any normal phone does out of box, I kind of feel sorry for you.
You are obviously having to overcompensate and rely on software upgrades and apps because your phone has so many problems with its functions.
Even funnier that you critisize my phones for having to use opera mini for 18 months, but wait, the I Phone couldnt even copy paste or transfer data to and from a PC over bluetooth for just as long.
Pathetic I Phone defense, really.
In the time it took the I Phone to get OS3, Ive already been through 3 handsets with the features that OS3 is going to give your I Phone. I also paid a lot less for the combined price of my K850i, T700, and LG Arena then you will have done on your IPhone, plus I get to sell my K850i and make some money back.

I'm currently on my last year of med school and I use epocrates for studying and checking just like med calculator, anatomy apps, med dictionary and etc. There's nothing wrong with that as many of my friends or professors use old palms, winmo phones, etc. for the same thing.

What you are not seeing is that the software updates not only bring expected functions or basic ones but they also add completely new features like: app store, exchange support, very rich bluetooth capabilities between iPhones and accessories and etc. These aren't things that were missing, they are new things, added for free. This is a much better solution than having a limited OS that gets old with time.
