Well, whenever I spoke to Orange they were quoting £15 a month minimum. And you cant get out of the 4 month tie-in. But we shall see.

Those people who have changed tariffs to the cheapest from the highest will probably be getting a letter through soon asking them if they want to stay on the 4 month tie-in or give Orange retail a £100 back towards the cost of the phone.

That's because most of their own staff don't really know much about the HSD tariff, which is why i stressed this point when Orange released the handset! You have to tell them about it - which is usually followed by an "oh! here it is...." from the C/S rep.

Oh, and no clawback from Orange retail. There's no 4months minimum term, unless you're stupid enough to buy it from CPW or an internet dealer etc (or you may find that it's even cheaper that way, even if you stick to the 4months).

I don't understand why It is stupid as well, people here don't seem to understand that not everyone can go out and get onto another contract...i'm not gonna be here in the UK forever, so another contract would just mean more expenses for me... I could care less if i pay more at purchase. I don't need a contract and if i have to pay more that so be it. Subsidizing is just that, your have to pay it out every month.

I didn't say it was stupid to buy it at CPW - i said it was stupid to buy it on an Orange contract at CPW IF all you are trying to get is a SIM free phone for the cheapest price.

No problem with you buying it from them SIM free! My point was, CPW charge around the same prices for the handset (£200-£300) but you have to stay on the same tariff for 3-4months at least - when instead, you can go to Orange direct, get the phone for the same price, and then switch tariffs immediately without penalty. If you're buying the contract to actually use it too - no problem there! Just that many people, like me, took out a new contract to use the handset with another SIM, and for them getting it from CPW makes no sense whatsoever.

Bought mine from an Orange shop & talked into a higher package than I had intended based on false info about the access pack giving me unlimited GPRS (only fair use on GPRS WAP & not on GPRS Internet).

At the time I could have had phone for £329.99 on a £15 tariff but got it for £299.99 on a £25 tariff.

I complained & because they gave me incorrect info they are refunding my GPRS Internet costs (over 2MB) and letting me go back to the tariff I originally wanted £16 T-mobile 60 Anytime equivalent with PAYG GPRS at the end of this month.

They confirmed I would not have to pay anymore for the phone & that the shop would not get as much commision due to bad selling.
