> Problem with Globe GPRS (PH)

don't expect your pop mail to work again on www APN. the days of free access are over. works fine for me on internet APN, but of course its P0.50/kb.
i think after 7 years with globe, the time has finally come to dump it. smart might not be any better but at least with that addict service, data usage (sms, mms, vas, gprs) is consumable in your monthly payment so you only pay once you exceed your allotment. and gprs is P0.25/kb!
pay an extra P500 a month for g-surf then excess at P0.50/kb? plus pay for all mms and vas usage? plus no signal when i go to the beach?! you gotta be kidding! especially with such an unreliable gprs service. sheesh....

still is P0.50/kb. if you are a corporate managed account, then it is P0.15/kb. G-surf at P500 a month gives you 2MB free, then P0.50/kb thereafter. and no free mms.

The free surfing thru www APM has really come with a terrible price:server unstability,blockd email ports and IP gateways.Just with connectivity and speed alone,globe doesnt match smart's gprs system even though it charges .25c/kb download.Smart's addict plan is better than globe's g@surf.
Btw,i waited 2 hours befor i wrote these c/o globe.In between that were the ff:try again,try again,endless connecting,pls try again,network problem.

i acgree abt smart gprs, but its still too expensive for wap or web surfing. it should be ok for instant messaging tho. for email i calculated dialing up an isp as a data call is more cost effective than gprs.

@senninha,
boy am I confused! 50 cents or 25? This is what it says on their website:
http://www.myglobe.com.ph/portal/featdetails.asp?title=whatshot&contentid=671
"And because you love browsing, we have the G Surf package for you. Pay only P500 a month when you make your first 2000 kilobyte download. "
"That means paying only P0.25 per kilobyte - a real bargain for mobile Internet! Enjoy it until September 30, 2003."

@jazzbo
i think you're right, in that it works out to 0.25/kb when you consider that you pay P500 upfront for 2MB of gprs usage. but i believe that once you exceed the 2MB limit, it reverts to 0.50/kb.

i think we should have a network specific thread to address our concerns (just like the smartnet thread) and have one of their representatives comment on our suggestions.

"The grass is always greener on the other side"... be careful! Smart has a nice way of misleading subscribers! More than Globe... just remember that Smart is PLDT is TnT is Piltel... these are THE MOST dishonest companies in the Philippines.
Correction on Globe's rates... it still is P0.25/kb if you're on the G-Surf plan... and P0.50/kb if you're on any other plan.
I suggest you try them out first...you might end up in a worse situation.
