I'd like more sophisticated management of scheduled e-mail downloads. I'd like it to download depending on my GPRS usage for the month, and when using CSD have it download more data at off-peak times.
Something simple but useful would be an app which allows you to control scheduled downloads based on your calendar. I'm about to go abroad on holiday/vacation, so I don't want to pay crazy roaming fees if I forget to disable my schedule downloads.
I suppose an alternative method would be something that disables your scheduled downloads if you're not using your usual service provider.

Some more suggestions for the P800 software.....
an app to auto turn on the back light on/off at a predertimed time..
a program to close running applications after a time out.. saves batt. power you know!
Love to have a Printing feature via IR
Nokia business card Interpreter... and also to send one back
a small app to allow a default IR setting...
also so I dont have to keep on going into the control panel all the time...
so rather than having to click on the settings I want...
just click on an icon and ... way I go!

Outlook sub folders and Catagories.
I know lots of people who use a PDA and phone because NO PHONE yet alows folders and catigories. This makes the SYNC functons of minimal use for buisness users.
The P800 has all the fields , it even give me the notes section (i need this) but no folder/catagories
Anyone who used PALM PDA (I don't know about newer versions) used Chapura Settings for convert outlook folders to PALM catagories as a fix for a crappy OEM solution. Only half way there.
Out of principle I don't want to get a Microsoft phone but unless someone does this I think I will sell the P800 and get one
If you can do this you will make a killing......unless someone is doing it already.

Several SIMPLE ideas (c'mon guys: who's gonna programme a full on video recorder or browser as a 1-man show???):
- Why can't I find aps that put a decent clock on the flip closed screen. I'd pay $10 for this. I truly use my phone as a watch. 1 click of the jog dal should turn on the screen and show clock (it currently does this, but clock is tiny)
- I'm surprised at the lack of task managers - there were loads for my Psion5. Go thro PC-based apps for ideas of functionality. Worth $20
- BIG ISSUE: P800 does not have repeatable tasks! LAME! Workaround is to do repeating calender items and move them to task list as they appear, or name task items in such a way that you remember to re-sched them rather than delete. LAME! Everyone has repeatable tasks (VAT, bills, call mum, feed dog, etc etc). Worth $10. Hell, $20.
- Battery logger with graph tracking levels and consumption. One gets surprised at sudden loss of power, and it'd help to see that you must have spent a whole day in bad reception area or running background apps or something. Worth $5
- Simply GPRS log enhancements. Most providers charge in blocks, and U can never B sure whetehr it's prudent to use HSCSD and "free minutes" (have other countries successfully created this misnomer?) or GPRS. It would show something like "xx bytes transfered, yy bytes until next f'ing hefty block of charge kicks in"
- Very very easy: minute usage tracker that resets every month (date must be user specified). How many of us have to phone into our provider to spend a "free" minute to see how many we have left? This would be SO kewl and is SO easy! I'd pay $5 wthout blinking!!!
- Surely there's a way to track call costs that does not use the built-in system (has anyone EVER seen a phone that worked for cost tracking?). Must cater for peak and non-peak times which vary by country, and MUST manage "free" minutes - some packages consume these on non-peak times only and others are anytime minutes. DEFINITELY $30 provided it keeps a log of all calls and their cost. Lawyers would love this too. In fact all of us consultants could use this is it could be exported to a s.sht and printed.
- Could make you rich: ALL these devices eventually lose calibration badly! I've tossed 2 Psions and 1 palm when the calibration finally went so far out that the calibration proggie could not detect the first tap. A calibration prog that uses numbers to adjust device back into tapable range would be worth $50 - BUT only when we actually get stuck.
PS: I may sound cheap, but I'm a victim of the South African Rand. Most apps are simply too expensive for me to bother with. I'm SURE that there's HUGE elasticity in s.ware (elasticity is when you drop the price and get so many more sales that it's more than worth the drop). Try pricing in the $5-10 range and I'm sure you'll have success. It's CERTAINLY worth paying $2 rather than looking around for a keygen!

Can I have a Vlamm-P800 please? (Must be totally interactive and as foxy as the real thing, or else no $30!!)
EDIT: @craigiecraigie4 SMan 1.1a is THE ultimate taskmanager for the P800, and it's free....

Sorry, by task manager I meant "tasks" manager as in the ToDo list rather than task switcher. Good ToDo lists allow one to sort in numerous ways, view due and overdue tasks only, see the priority AND category AND due date together, etc etc
