Don't want to stir things up here, but it's an interesting topic for me since I'll get my BT equipped BMW M3 in 2 weeks, and was planning to buy a T610 (next to my P800) since roadlfly BBS said the P800 does not work on a BT equipped M3. The reason given was that a P800 doesn't have a "car" profile. They can 'see' each other (they pair correctly) but then nothing else happens on both sides

So I'm going to try it out asa I have the new BMW (I currently have a non-BT manual M3 with BMW fixed phone, new M3 is nearly identical but using an SMG gearbox & BT ) If it doesn't, I'll go get a T610 as carbackup, don't want to sell my P800, love it too much.

With T610 phonebook is displayed on car display etc (so all works as a charm), but only drawback is SMS'es can't be displayed on the car display (the crappy BMW fixed phone does this however)

Any chance of letting us know for sure weather the P800 works with the BM bluetooth or not?
If it doesnt then I can put that money towards some alloys or something.

Erm.... the P800 didn't have any profiles upon release right?? (i don't have one so I'm asking here) That might well be the cause of the problem. I have no idea if newer firmware would add this profile and solve the problem??

Erm.... since obviously no1 knows the answer for sure... you might wanna try and find out from themselves.....

ok since ur not bothered to look for the thread urself at my-symbian
here is a copy and past

( Obviously the P800 does not work with the BMW bluetooth kit

I and some friends with same car and phone tried it several times, the pairing seems to work in the first place (sucess message, BMW appears in the list of paired devices) but then immediately after that, the communication fails, no further communication possible

A BMW guy told me, that the P800 is missing the "HANDSFREE" bluetooth profile but only offering the "HEADSET" profile which is not sufficient for communication with the BMW bluetooth kit. Can anybody confirm the miss of this profile ? Was it there with the T68i (which worked fine with my BMW's bluetooth kit) ? )

@zabir

Why not wait a bit and see if the P810 has the Handsfree profile to enable communication with the BMW BT kit? From the posts here, it seems that the BMW BT kit is likely to work with most "normal" phones and the problem lies with the "missing" s/w on the P800.

Will a software upgrade on the P800 solve the problem?

the only hopes I have is that the first P800 vs BMW BT tests were done with R1D, while I haven't seen any tests since R2F came out. I got R2F so I'm certainly gonna try it asa I get my new beast

I'll keep you posted
