I have listed all the product codes for the Duo. But if you guys prefer "color" to identify different MemoryStic Duo here it is again:
1. Purple: Regular MSDuo(the one you got inside P800)
2. White: Regular MSDuo w/ MagicGate Protection
3. Blue: MSDuo w/ Magicgate and High Speed Transfer
4. White w/ Gold Letter: MSDuoPro
@Bossjohn
I got confirmation from SE CS through email. I have talked about it in the link that you provided in your earlier post. I don't think I am going to post the email. Afterall the SC just said "P800 is compatible with MSDuo with High Speed Data Transfer"(MSH-Series). They refused to answer my second email to them asking if the P800 is compatible with the Pro. Until they answer DEFINATELY NO and NEVER will be, I have to assume SE has plan but cannot announce it at the moment.

You really have to visit

errr.... is the dark blue MS Duo not the PRO? This would make sense... the whole thing about the pro is paralell transfer, which only the Pro can do. From what you describe, it sounds like the dark blue duos are PROS!!!
If they're discontinuing the non-Pro 128MB sticks and releasing PRO 128/64MB sticks, then they MUST work with the P800.
I've just spoken to SonyStyle UK and they say in no uncertain terms, that the MS Duo Pro is compatible with the P800. 256MB and 512MB.
He also said that the only Duo Pros available in the UK are the 64MB and 128MB ones!!!!
I'm starting to beleive it...

The fact is that the DarkBlue(MSH) and the Pro both has the same interface and both has the High Speed Transfer feature. Both also support serial and paralel transfer. They call it pro or not is not relevant.
He..he...SE will not give you definative answer if you ask them about the Pro. I have gone through this for over three weeks now and they have not reply to my question. But they confirmation with regard to MSH series is good enough for me.

Hey guys,
sorry, I started a new topic posting my correspondance with SE before reading this thread.
Well, the final word from SE is that Duo Pros a not compatible.
Oh well.

@SmokinMan...
Who are you contacting? Perhaps they don't actually know themselves? The problem for me is that whenever I hear someone say "Yes, they're compatible", I always think they've assumed.
They may not be compatible still, it may just be that because the pro can work at serial and paralell speeds, the 128 and 64 are compatible with the P800, although no speed increase will be seen.
Whether the duo drive can actually read Pros at paralell speed is yet to be seen.
All it would take to find out is for someone to buy one of these new dark blue Duos, 128 or 64 MB, and test out the data transfer rates.
If it were capable of high speed data transfer, then I'm 99% certain it would be a Pro Duo drive, otherwise not.
Anyway, the whole MemoryStick lineup is a complete hash. In 10 years we'll be using them as christmas decorations because of the great range of colours!

You are wrong in this assumption too. BOTH Dark Blue Duo and ProDuo support Serial and Paralel Transfer. If P800 work with Dark Blue Duo in serial(no speed gain compared to using the old Duo) then the P800 can work with the Duo Pro in Serial also.
I don't think P800 can utilize the extra speed but the P900 surely can. So buying the High Speed Duo and DuoPro is certainly a long investment.

Sony F*ck Up with Memory Stick. They have to change the architecture and that was what causing all the confusion. Remember with BETAMAX(their other f*ck up proprietry)

Right you are - I'm not going to argue, Pro is on a completely different architechture which is limited to 32GB. Like you say, logically if it reads these sticks and they have the same architechture as Pro, then the P800 should read any Pro.
The thing that bugs me is that they're dark blue... why??? What's different about them???

Im extremely sorry guys but I can NOT disclose anymore information than this:
I have tested and the 256 MB (not select) does infact work with a p800.
I wont provide pictures, source or anything else. I was trusted with informtion and id rather not compromise my situation.
Also I will be getting my hands on a p900 very soon and i was wondering if there is ANY information you guys would like to have. Again NO pictures NO proof!
I will say it again to be clear I have NO pictures NOR proof of this at all. You will trust have to trust me. I haven't spread lies throughout this community before I have been perfectably respectable and I will not start lying now.
I do not care whether or not you believe me I am just trying to be a good member of esato.
What would you guys like to know about the p900 (please nothing too complicated like how do the insides look lie lol) I jus am getting a chance to play around with it for an hour or so and i will not be able to take pictures. MAYBE i can get 1! And it will be a p800 pic at most.
Anyway just to restate the 256 (I only say the 256 i didnt see the 512 so im not sure about that) Duo PRO! (yes pro not select) indeed works with the p800 of course I was given a p800 to try it on !not my own (they took it away so i couldnt take pics

) ! and it worked so it could have had a firmware upgrade but i didnt have a chance to write down the firmware so I really dont know (wasnt thinking

) So anyway think what ever you wish!
