Why ARE people complaining about the P800? What exactly is it about the P800 that is so awful to you people? Is it SE? Is there some other reason behind the moans that the rest of us aren't getting?

I believe we need to get some things in order,

SE has not abandoned P800 users or any future firmware updates or improvements. They have only stated that the P800 UIQ2.0 will not be upgraded to UIQ2.1, for obvious hardware compatibility issues.

But this doesn't mean that there won't be improvements or upgrades to the existing UIQ2.0. Lets not forget, in the software world, upgrades can even mean UIQ2.0X, 2.0XX...etc.

The P800 is a future proof model. With 3rd party software, we can expect a long term support for this model for at least the next year or 2. By then, P800 users would be ready to upgrade to the next successor to the P-series.

In addition, lets be realistic, with the features of the P800, it''s still one of the most full-featured phones around. Compared to most models and makes today and in the near future, it still blows the cometition...

this is basically the same topic on a hot thread on my-symbian.com, and for what?

p800 owners complained that they should get a sort of up an upgrade path, like they return back their old p800 for a price and get a new p900 and all of those marketing schemes, etc....

others will point out that the UIQ should be able to upgrade... and so forth...many are valid points, but heck! this is the money game people, SE wants to earn money... and so do you!

the best advise it this.... live with your p800, or sell it and get a p900, or other wise clam up and wait for the p1000... but then again when the p1000 is released, all the nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah... will start again.

darn it! why can anybody get it... we are all phone addicts, and if we can afford it we will certainly get the latest and the best phone or smartphone or phone/pda in the market, we drool on the latest models from SE, from NOKIA, and the rest of the gang... cell phones are now status symbols and toys, and what ever they can become to his or hers liking, so people just....live with your p800, or sell it and get a p900, or other wise clam up and wait for the p1000

Guys Guys Guys

arent u getting my point
all i have say that i dont care if they release p900 or p1000
the thing its not the UIQ 2.1

when i first i buy P800 for 850$
i've been promised to have Desktop themes, T9 , Video Recorder
but i havent seen this in p800
and p800 doesnt need to be UIQ 2.1
it only needs this u[grades
SonyEricsson have this updates
but they didnt released in P800 , why they want to sell P900
if u look for Nokia
Nokia is only want to sell products they dont care abput anyone
only they care about making money like the rest
but they make a video recorder available for 7650 3650 and all above
and besides p800 have more hardware better then this devices
so why they dont use it with p800
and if they say p800 is not capable to have because UIQ
so UIQ is sux
i think S60 much better
thats what i was saying all about

EXACTLY

SE answered the question they were asked will UIQ 2.1 fit on the p800 their answer NO and they explain why

The question will P800 firmware upgrades now stop because P900 is out was not asked and therefore has not been answered

How can you READ BETWEEN THE LINES of an answer to include a question that has not yet been asked and THEN come to a conclusion that all avenues have now been closed regarding the P800

Are you STILL moaning? Get a grip mate. Stand back and actually listen to yourself; you sound like a spoilt child. SE don't owe you anything mate, stop whinging about them. I think its more a case that you are a tad jealous of P900 owners. You have forked out what is probably a lot of money for you, perhaps without knowing of the imminent release of the P900. Suddenly you find that the lovely, expensive P800 you have just bought is no longer the latest model and you can't quite claim to your friends\colleagues that it is the absolute best. You strike me as somewhat shallow.
As I have told you before coolfighter get back in your pram and stop moaning about a very very good product. It will be an excellent phone for a year or two to come in terms on functionality. Enjoy it!

P.S. If you don't like it so much you always have the option of not moaning about it and simply getting a P900. Or would that be giving in to the 'arrogant' and 'greedy' SE?

Promised by who exactly?

we do have 3rd party software to change colour schemes... 3rd party predictive text input, and a 3rd party (beta) camcorder app all for the p800.

@coolfighter, I have an idea, why not dedicate the rest of your life to this cause, in a few months time you will be completely unique, then after a year or so you will achieve "eccentric" status.

While most people go on to enjoy all the latest technology & easier lifestyles, you could eventually end up on local/hospital radio.
