Well, to put an end to my saga, I went into the VF shop today and questioned them about the MP3 ringtone problem and they said that there is no way around it, as they do not sell unbranded phones.

So I cancelled my contract, using the 14 day cooling off period rule

I walked up the shopping centre to the Orange shop and asked about upgrading my original Ericsson t68i to the K700i and they upgraded me for free Well £49.99 for the K700i and a £49.99 refund for the t68i

The Orange K700i has very little Orange branding and the front buttons are back to SE defaults "Calls" & "Camera"

Also, it allows me to set MP3's as ringtones WOOHOO! result.

I am well happy now All sorted.

Good job loaded, well done. For your own sake never buy a Vodaphone phone again (but theres nothing wrong with their PAYG sims).

Does your new K700 have an Orange logo where the Quickshare sticker normally is ?

hi, after reading everyones opinions on about vodafone i decided against getting the phone from them directly. however i still signed with vodafone through pressure from friends! anyway... i signed instead with carphone warehouse in uk and they had the generic phones... ok i paid more for the phone than at vodafone (£50)... but CPW was selling the phone on my tariff for £150 but they kindly reduced that to £100 after i said vodafone was doing it for cheaper and they compared it to vodafone online which was £100, so that worked out quite well cuz i got the k700i for £100 from almost SE directly! i don't have any branding on the phone at all... exactly as its been shipped from SE. I'm still charging the phone at the moment so haven't tried the mp3 ringtone bit yet... but i shouldn't see any prob with it as its an original from SE without any alterations...
so anyone wanted one on vodafone should try CPW and say vodafone are doing the phone cheaper!!
hope thats useful to someone!!

only wish i'd seen this thread monday - just bought a voda k700 - cant use damn mp3 as tones.
fone is going back to phones4u tomorrow and cancelling new contract unless they can swap for it for an unbranded model (unlikely)

never used o2 before so might just try them out.

@etaab

Yes m8, it has the Orange logo down the bottom. I can live with that as I have GrandMaster Flash - The Message as my ringtone LMAO!

Woah Zubnut !

I went to Phones4U yesterday and they exchanged my Vodafone branded for a GSM non branded K700i.

No charge no fuss. Technically the phone is faulty as I got it on the basis of the colour screen (icons) and the MP3 abilities.

Now I am WAAAAAAY happy with this baby !
