Nokia has been cleverly pumping Series 60 phones for the higher end segment ..according to me for which SE has not found an answer ..Its high time SE reduced prices for K700i,K500i,S700i and introduced a smartphone without touchscreen

I have to say I think this looks pretty good and the specs are excellent.

What will SE do in reply...?

Even if SE comes out with 1 smartphone, without touchscreen, It probably wont sell so much. There wont be much of a software base. Software written for one type of processor is not compatable with another. Technically, you can simply recompile the software and its ready to work with the other platform. But nokia S60/80/90 use proprietry dev tools, not compatable with UIQ.

Nokia will win in this segment, because of its good timing. Nokia has 7650,3650,3660,6600,6260,6630,7610,6620 and 3230 in this segment. No way SE can compete with nokia by just releasing 1 Non-touchscreen Smartphone.

Atleast its a start ... They have to start somewhere ... and checkout the rumoured symbian clamshell in www.usep.be ... if it is for the GSM market then it will BLOW AWAY the competition

This year alone 6 Nokia smartphones were released (7610,6670,6620,6260,6630,3230). And by end of year something like 15 millions have been sold.

Next year something like 10-15 new Series60 phones will be released. From the look of it Nokia will sell something like 20-40 millions Series60 phones next year.

So by that time Series60 would have enough critical mass to entice many more new software developers to build software for it. And this momentum will keep reinforcing itself.

You are right buddy. The S60 is becoming THE standard if we like it or not.And I think "t9" help it quite a bit. Just look at the competition.Really can you imagine tipping a SMS with a "stylus"?Sometimes the simpler ideas are the best! This message was posted from a Nokia 7650
