Here in California the newer GSM providers (AT&T Wireless) uses comp128-version 2. That leaves only Cingular and possible T-mobile? on comp128-version 1. Since T-mobile uses Cingular cell sites, there is not much point in adding T-mobile. So as a result there is only one provider really, that use comp128-version 1. Until version 2 has been resolved, there is not much point in using this method.
Are you aware on any progress with version2?

I think that is correct that version 2 SIM cards are SchlumbergerSema. Here in the U.S. there are providers such as AT&T wireless, who are currently changing from TDMA to GSM and are using version 2 encryption and Schlumberger cards. Older GSM providers such as Cingular and T-mobile (formerly Voicestream) are as far as I know for the most part still on version 1 encryption.
I have been told that most service providers in U.K. are also on version 2 encryption, so this increases the urgency to resolve version 2. I understand that the card readers and software from Taiwan and China are not yet able to decrypt version 2? Do you have any other information or sugggestions?
