mamba, that's a classic mod dude
I don't have a prob since my phone is always cased when I'm using it for calls. But yeah it is sharp, even though I don't forsee using it without the case, it's cool enough that I'm gonna mod mine too.
Since it's an improvement, it shouldn't detract from resale value, and done as neatly as yours, the buyer wouldn't even notice anyway. They also will never notice a sore ear, which only improves the image of K700i.
So come on you K700i fans, get the nail files out!

Thats got to be the most idiotic comment ever on Esato !
Of course it will affect the resale value of the phone, moreso if you sell the phone to anyone who takes notice of what they're buying.
Whether filing down the phones casing helps your ear or not, its still damage to the phones casing. If someone asked me if i wanted to buy a K700i that had such damage, id take my money and run !

etaab, the phone's not too bad...
People don't even notice what I did, besides someone's already offering $250 for your information.

I'm glad I made you laugh etaab, if you took me seriously then that would have to be the stupidest act on esato
When I said "So come on you K700i fans, get the nail files out!" you might have realised I was being facetious.
Anyway, by the time mamba and I are finished with our K700's there is likely to be more wear and tear noticable than a mild amount of neat filing on the case anyway, so what prospective buyer is going to give stuff? Did you look at mamba's picture?
No one was talking about selling a brand new K700i with filing on it

Heh, but you claimed it was an improvement !
From that picture he provided, the K700i looks badly damaged to me. If your phone gets more damage that than from wear and tear, then god and SE help your K700i !
If anyone offered $250 for a damaged K700i, then they've either got more money than brains, or have no idea what the K700i is meant to look like minus the damage.

Hmm..I think you are too preoccupied with appearances my friend!
And it is an improvement if you have mamba ears, or don't use a case or are a vulcan

So, by your logic, if i were to go to the Louvre in Paris armed with a black marker pen, and proceed to draw silly glasses and a spliff on the face of the Mona Lisa and then say ' hey, its an improvement ! ' people would be fine about it ?
Hell, if anyone complained you could just say they are preoccupied with appearances !
The point im making is, is that sure customise your K700i all you want, but dont be naive enough to think that people would still pay as much for the phone as an undamaged one just because in your opinion its an improvement !

hehe I get your point etaab. You are correct, all other things being equal, the scratched phone will be worth less (but it won't be worthless)
I still wouldn't be too worried myself if the casing was scratched intentionally (ie: not because the phone was dropped) and was therefore cheaper than others of similar age (as long as all other things were equal).
I've known many people to scratch and dint their phones in the first week of ownership and sell them successfully several months later
