It seems perfectly simple to me. The dullness was akin to a childish design ethos in my view, hence the nurserey reference.

He was making the point that Ericsson's designs were nothing special, quite bland. Then he made a second point about them being slightly chidlish, the two aren't connected.
I would have to go with Sony.

With the exception of the T68 I thinkl they are all incredibly dull.
The T68 was the only Ericsson I ever really liked the look of, even at that I bought the T68i because of the Sony influence.
