In some ways I would like Turkey to join the EU, even if just to show the world that people from Christian-dominated countries and those from a Moslem-dominated country can work together without fighting or starting wars.
I would actually quite like to see the EU expand a little more, embracing those countries just on the edge of Europe also.
Just as long as each country's national soverignty is respected, and they can still legislate and set their own taxes and interest rates etc. without Brussels interfering too much.

Seems rather a strange law, if they had passed it! I don't think adultery is illegal in any other european country, and as they had dropped plans in Turkey to bring that law in it's opened the door to them becoming members in time.
I wouldn't want them to join if they had passed that rather odd and draconian sounding law. I'm not for adultery, or anything like that of course, but making it a punishable offence by law would have been stupid.
