I saw this DiGi promotion:

"Now you can get the T610 together with a postpaid line for RM1050 all-inclusive of deposit. Features include GPRS, WAP and MMS, etc. There are 2 plan. One is RM30/month at RM0.30/call locally. Then there is the RM80/month at RM0.20/call anywhere in Malaysia anytime."

Yesterday, my friend just bought a new T610 at Digi Shop, and guess what, the phone has a BIG T-Mobile logo under the keypads! And the menus icon also has the T-mobile logo. I can't believe DiGi shop is selling underwater/imported sets to unsuspecting customers. My friend didn't care, but if it were me, I'd go ballistic! What do you think?

Novell,

it's ya friend choice. once he knew about the firmware upgrade gonna cost him a bomb later and the 1 year warranty he will regret it.

remember the phone that can support 2 SIM card at the same time? check this out www.gsmarena.com

select the brand name BENEFON and the model will be Twin+

Is it possible the T mobile set has valid warranty here? Like maybe Digi got the exclusive rights to sell it here?

basically t-mobile phones come with the logo of t-mobile on the casing, and they have certain extra menus that are tailored to T-Mobile services (which can't be used here). no other difference...

in other words WATERSET

I suspect this promotion thing isn't an official one from DIgi, it's the shop that is having this promotion to cheat unknowing customers and they sell off their cheap watersets

it's easy to get hold of these sets... eg: ask ur fren who has a t-mobile t610 to report it lost, he gets another one for free, u bring it over, sell off for cheap, make money

better ask ur fren to go back to the shop and demand for an original set

gilthoniel,
u siao ah.... demand for a warranty set. u think u can get it for 1k? i don't think so.

guys,
ask sanj about his R520. last time digi have a very good promotion on this R520 with only RM300+ and register DIGI line. but turned up service center will not entertain that as a warranty set. if any upgrade or faulty party. Authorise service center will not provide u any free service or claims of warranty. u have to pay in order for them to fix that for u.

it's not so call water set or not. DIGI paid the import tax as well. they bring in the phone themselve and not thru so it's sad that it's at ya own risk.

for some charges they will face will be like
1. upgrade firmware - RM50 per upgrade
2. check for faulty - RM50 each time
3. replacement of parts - depand on parts.
4. service center will not be responsible for any faulty due to any upgrade u requested. (90% will remain ok but 10% will face some problem)

@ Fulat, i'm affriad u have wrong info regarding my R520m. My R520m warranty is NOT ONLY by DiGi, its ALSO by Ericsson. I got an unfilled ERICSSON warranty card and 1 year warranty by DiGi themselves. I have been to Ericcserve to upgrade my FW to the latest for R520m and they stampped the Ericsson Warranty card. I think the t-mobile one is a con case wan... DiGi don't do such things... It MUST be one of those "pariah" or "caplang" stalls u see in malls... My R520m was bought in a DiGi CENTRE... not some crappy booth ...

Cheers,
~Sanjeev~

@fulat,
me not siao,.... just that as customer we should demand our rights. THe poor fella didn't even know, and wasn't informed... so it is his right to get things straight mah. it's all about consumer rights.

as for the R520m, sanj already explained. There's no way digi will bring in waterset/non-warranty sets la, it will only jeopordise their good name. So as i said, this T-Mobile unit is a con-job promotion in the name of DIgi.

why would they bring in units with another network's name stamped? not very good for business isn't it?
