Does the CPU really matter that much? Are You guys going to render images with phone or make complicated calculations that needs as much cores as possible?
What sould be really important is the screen quality to match the competition (Sony is really shitty in that area lately)
Camera quality that really deserves it's name, not some low quality EXMOR RS. (xenon flash would be awesome)
A bunch of cool sensors (see Galaxy SIV).
A really big battery (see Motorola RAZR MAXX).
Waterproof (at least in this area Sony shines).
And finally, a microphone that can record sound (see Nokia 808 and Lumia 920).
If someone makes a phone like that, I'm sold even if it works on "old" S4 pro.

How future proof do you need a phone?
The phone just needs to last 2 years at most, before its replaced. A lot of people replace their phone after just 1 year. Besides, if you need to double performance every year in order to maintain User Experience, perhaps its better just to get rid of the bloat on the OS.

There will also be a Sony C680X leak in April, as confirmed by Ambivalent "no 2h leaks until spring."
"We will reveal that information in April. Please do not ask about C680X until than." in reply to the following question "So lets see whether Sony C680X use snapdragon 800 or 600(mostly will be this one) or still APQ8064?"
Sorry man I got nothing that RaMu or Dacha haven't told us already. I wasn't expecting this kind of info rush so I thought I would share some of my info but those guys eclipsed me entirely.
Anyway, S800 AnTuTu results;
Destroys Exynos 5 no doubt, but still a 4000 points shy of Tegra 4. Also it should be noted that Tegra 4 achieved 36000 with a tablet (with a questionable battery usage, since Tegra 4 is not out yet and obviously not ready), so I think Nvidia may downcloack it's SoC a little bit which would align it with S800 results (at least in the smartphone category).

Better SoC = better web browsing, smoother OS, faster opening of apps, smoother and better games, better power efficiency in comparison to older SoC with the same cores at the same level of performance etc

You know how the difference between the Sony Xperia Z/ZL is that despite the fact that they both have 5" screens, the ZL has a smaller bezel body... Will 'One Sony' also be like the ZL in this same respect?
Also, will the "Ray 3" have a 720p or a 1080p screen? Also, will it have 4G LTE?

My Xperia Ion is very smooth. Even without a quad core processor. Surfing the net is breezier than a breeze.

Other devices are even smoother and that counts a lot for a lot of people. If your Xperia Ion is good enough for you then stick with it. For me all the devices I've tried, including iOS devices, just don't satisfy me completely in terms of performance in many areas.
