Agreed, being an armchair critic ought to be recognized as a national pastime. One problem from which too many of us suffer is the mute acceptance of crime. Too often we're content to turn a blind eye... whilst being proactive is probably the best defence.
EDIT: A nice tutorial on how to cut mp3 tracks from your phone, without needing any additional applications either... See Garion's blog:

LOL, a week on and mobilefun have already dropped the price of their sim-free K800i by £30 (approx R400) to £349.95 (approx R4620) as of today.
Will be interesting to watch what happens, price-wise, over the next few weeks and months with the flagship K-model...

Apart from myself, was anyone on here thinking of getting the K800? When it eventually launches locally I'm sure they're not going to be charging the ridiculous price of R4620...might as well get an N91.

People in this country are really getting fed up with crime, so a web site like that is inevitable. i dont know what it would take to drive me over the edge, but if i was a father and i had a daughter of 12 get raped, or something like that, resulting in pregnancy or aids, i might go nuts and pull a boondock saints(i always get a warm and fuzzy feeling when i watch that:)

Events has this habit of changing your view in a second. it can make a devil of a saint in a second. i cannot judge other peoples actions because i have no idea where they have been. and that is the way the cookie crumbles. we can count ourselves blessed (lucky) that we are where we are and rather safe compared to the majority in our country. millions live lives in danger every day.

Yes the prices are ridiculous at this stage, although these eBay prices are slightly less ridiculous:
£282.99 (approx R3735) plus £10.00 postage for brand new, sim-free K800i's on eBay from some damn good sellers...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-ER[....]egoryZ3312QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
And then there's brand new sim-free N91's, currently from £249.99 (approx R3300) on eBay:

Still way too much money for either for my liking; if I was that desperate to get either, I'd get one of these for free on a contract again.
I'm gonna wait and let the passing of time do the rest; I purposefully choose not to fit into the 'must have the latest now' fold (as much as I'd like to if I was really loaded...

). Sure, if I had the moola to throw around and buying this way wouldn't dent any savings as such, why not..., but I need to spread my hard-earned finances out over a plethora of other interests and investments as well.
I have absolutely no intention of getting a K800i; not this year anyway, unless there's an absolutely brilliant offer to tempt me....nah, I'm gonna wait for that rumoured (LOL) new SE smartphone...
Another thing worthwhile remembering: the current 'ridiculous' pricing is virtually the same as when the W800i first came out, or K750i, or the T610 when it first hit the shelves, or whatever. It's hard to imagine that now, but one has only to look at the prices when any top-spec-for-the-time handset by SE, Nokia et al was launched, and there's an obvious, familiar pattern (price-wise) that emerges...
It's occasionally interesting to reflect in some of the old threads on esato and other cellphone-related sites and noting what things cost back when 'the latest' was launched, and the reactions to these handsets by the public back then... I can be a sentimental wanqa sometimes...

@ Rhino8, Hope you are proposing soon, else one of us might beat you to it! lol! I am not too fussed about getting the latest there and then. I get my new phone when the time comes to upgrade: might spend a little to get a really good one, and that would last me 20-24 months, if not longer. Considering I am far from loaded, that is cool.
The one thing I would love though is a good backup phone. My dad inherited my Nokia 6220 when SE came into my life...
Quick question, what phone is the best for hard of hearing? I am talking 1000000 Watts of sound and so on. My dad has a hard time hearing his phone ring, never mind hearing when he talks on it. And reception on Vodacom always seems sucky for him. He had one of those cheap Motorollas & a old Nokia business phone ( the latter being replaced by the 6220) Any ideas/experience in this? He works out in the field as a builder, just so you know the extend of the issues involved here.

Guys, one more quick thing, and sorry that I am asking so much: All of you who post with your mobiles, how much text are you able to post at a time? The reason I ask it is because I seem to be able to only get round about 400 characters in, spaces included in my mobile posts. I suspect this is page related, as it is much less on me & my friend's personal blog site. Do you guys have a similar limit?
