i wish they would add the desktop of the p700. the four icons in the buttom of the dektop in fo mode are a joke. even the m600 has five icons and at least one can be changed. the large empty desktop can't be, what se indended for the release of the p990i. i am sure they wanted to add something like in the p700, but couldn't make it in time.

Guys I'm polish and in the polish text everything is what you know already - better video with 30 bps, HSDPA, Symbian 9.3, better RAM.
But the guy from the polish forum also says that it is not confirmed. He says the time will show. Also the time of release between 21 may and end of june.
I'm not really believing in system upgrade... But I hope they really improve P990. It is a good phone.

Lisa@cps has explained why some applications can be restored and some can't. Apparently there is a backup/restore awareness API that needs to be used. It follows that a few applications that have used it properly do get restored.

Regarding the truth about the symbian upgrade...i am gonna say this again:
1 - If people here are not complete UIQ noobs, all should know who is ajack. Well, if you can put some reserve about myself and my infos, then read what he wrote. Its all there
2 - People folowing the SE inside info scene, know who are MR and Rog from mobile-review...then please, ask them about this - i know the answer
3 - Then, if you have acess to people directly conected to SE, and that have acess to SE protos in a daily base, like i do, ask them. I did, and it was like that that i first got this info.
4 - There are several other insiders or people connected from SE here, at mobile-review, at aas and at my-symbian that i also spoke too - all confirm the info
So, what´s left??? Yeah, a press release. But i doubt they will talk about this in the press...but i can be surprised, maybe they say something in the 8th May. Ajack already said in that day we will know what OS version the final P700 will bring, and that will be the version used to upgrade P990/W950/M600

If anybody has R6 and still Symb.9.0 then why would we get anything else later on? All those 'assumptions' when the ram is better, when whatever is better .... then is must be... blah... is just speculation, no?
BUT anybody that flashed its phone to R6 either has a different OS and features or not. Looks simple actually. And if that would be the case, then we all can hope more on the side of possibility instead of assume ( ass / u / me ...

You will notice it mainly on the phone performance. But, it seems they will add some other features, and changes on the menus - this is not however confirmed, i am not sure of any of those.
What i am 100% sure, is that the basis of the P990/M600/W950 OS will be upgraded.
About your question - yes, ajack can tell us if the R6 he is testing is already based on the new OS. But he seems to avoid letting that info out. I guess because such kind of infos will only by openly released after the big 8th announcements (and it makes sense)

but what do you think personnaly regarding the extended desktop in fo mode? will we see an enhanced desktop where one can chose between more than four icons, like the desktop of the p700, or do you think, that we won't get something like this? i am really interested in your 5 cent...
