The Lumia 1020 has manual modes too unlike N8. I had two N8's in my time and both had blurry spots on all images like a focus issue.

Engadget Comparative Photo And Video: Sony Xperia Z1 Vs Lumia 1020 PureView !

http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/24/sony-xperia-z1-review/

P.S: After clearly losing for N8 NSeries and 808 PureView... Finally 1020 PureView (Lumia 925 with 41 megapixels) wins a duel photographic !!!

Just goes to show your so called 'facts' mean nothing. Reviews are not always fact and are not real world. It's also down to who is behind that lens. Like I said before, I managed to get decent photos out of a cheap Huawei. I have a friend who has the Sony Z1 and he says not only is it excellent but the photos he's shown me prove it to be excellent. Even the front camera takes clear shots. Z1 is what the Z should have been and it can be compared to the 1020

The Z1 really doesn't stand a chance against the 1020.. especially if Microsoft can fix the white balance issues, and improve the jpeg processing. The sensor is big enough.. there is more to be extracted out of there for sure.

Look at this shot from the Z1

what's that cu015170? is that some hopeful thinking i see?

i think it's funny you come to the Z1 thread to criticize photos and talk down the rumor/hope that the camera has great potential and will be made much better with software updates when here you are, saying the same thing about 1020 while posting a random sample just to prove your point. there are much better Z1 samples out there, yet you choose to ignore it? why's that? tsk tsk.

They are both limited by their sensors.. one of them has a much bigger sensor, and I think that the 1020 is underperforming due to jpeg processing/white balance issues. It still won't be able to beat the 808.. regardless of how many updates they push out. It has inferior imaging hardware.

The same can be applied to the z1 vs 1020 argument. In the Z1 thread you mentioned that the Z1 can be amazing after a software update, but no matter what they do.. it won't be able to beat the 1020 for the same reason the 1020 can't beat the 808.

Makes sense ?

In comparisons !

Z1 is an excellent smartphone que has a good camera (the best since the C901), but at this stage does not have any condition to compete against the 1020 and Especially the 80 8!

The competitor is the Z1 Zoom S4 and yet in some situations (night shots), the Samsung cameraphone is better !

That's the truth !

PS: Currently 1020 only is lower than the N8 NSeries and 808 PureView !

No that's YOUR truth not fact. The Sony can compete against it. I have seen many images from the Z1 from my friend who has it that are as good as the Nokia 1020. Your just blind

Well my good lady has used her upgrade for a Lumia 1020 for me which I got today. Unfortunately she was too late to get the free accessory kit that goes with it.........still I really shouldn't complain I have three charging plates anyway and my wireless shell will hopefully be here tomorrow
Just setting it up as we speak. First impressions are good. Usual solid Nokia build quality and no creaking from the body like the 920 suffered from slightly. The 2gb of ram really makes a big difference from the initial setup speed to installing and loading apps and games.
Ill have more time over the weekend to experiment with the camera and other features.
I have no idea whether it'll be a better camera than the Z1, GS4 or Galaxy Zoom. The important things for me are that its a Nokia, has a great camera and doesn't run Android ( and that last comment is not meant to cause any offence I just cannot stand the whole Google monopoly era we are in )

Congrats hope you enjoy it If you cannot afford a Lumia 1020 you could always get a bridge camera for £39
