I just bought my p9. I don't know if this is a bug or not. But while charging the backlight is on while the phone is turned off and you can see the battery meter only. Is the backlight supposed to be tuned on. It's kind of odd

Just got my p990 for 4 days now and i got some newbie questions...
1. is there by any chance i could change my installed organizer and cda?
original:
ORGANIZER CXC 162092 R2A05
CDA CDA 162007/8 R2A04
I updated my phone using the update service and it did update the phone but not the above mentioned!
basically i would want to install an english virtual keyboard on my phone because what i have is in chinese!
2. When I want to install american english language it wont let me and the error message says that i have to install "sonyericssonp990languageID" first before installation.
3. How do you delete pre installed applications that the "uninstall" tool cannot detect? Because I am dying to delete Lunar calender on my phone and when I turned on my phone and checked the RAM the available memory is only 7+ mb and you guys have around 10+ free memory.
4. is it possible to set the phone that when everytime you FO the first thing to pop up is the shortcut menu?
5. How do you set-up the keys in PICOdrive sega emulator to get the most out of P990 controls? been dying to play sonic on my p990 and suck at predefining the controls!
Sorry If my questions have already been answered I am just too lazy to go through all 400+ posts! and to anybody who cares enought to answer the questions... thanks so much!

Yes, it's normal. However, if the phone is ON, backlight does turn off.

I think your P990 is the same with mine, it's singapore version and there is no update to R3 yet... so sad. dunno when will any upgrade for us.. by the way u can change your virtual keyboard to english from chinesse... no need to add language, just check again... it's right beside chinesse on the virtual keyboard, there is abc and 123. so choose it, that simple..

thanks siandy... letting me know that i am not alone. yeah I already know where to change the virtual keyboard language but it seems to transfer to chinese language by itself sometimes and its really annoying. Can' wait for the next fW update... hoping it would fix the memory issues so i wont experience reboot every so often!

Hi I have a p990 on orange and when installing through pc i have to select certain details each time. A bit annoying when there is a lot you want. is it possible to by default:
a) not be asked re the certificate(without having to change hundreds of other settings?
b) not be asked where to install..ie i would like mem stick as default
c) not be asked if you want to launch the app at the end?
Thanks

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. Obviously you did nothing wrong, therefore there is nothing you can do to avoid this specific problem. Following this train of thought, it's sound advice to avoid SE until they do something to win back our confidence.
