I tend to agree with da krypsta, if the big money pulls out of South Africa then it's your queue to jump ship...right now I don't see any of that happening...multi-nationals are still making money and some are investing billions in capital projects...wait till the World Cup momentum gets swinging and you'll start hearing of more projects.

This morning I was at a meeting of black business owners and the mood there was totally refreshing...these are people who 15 years ago never could've conceived of owning their own businesses, these are always the same people who will ensure the ANC stays in check- not Tony Leon and his fearmongering.

The Black middle class- greedy, selfish bunch that they are- will ensure that those in the ANC with Marxist, Stalinist tendencies are kept in check. That's why everyone is from the SACP/Cosatu/ANCYL are fighting with Mbeki over the Jacob Zuma issue.

@pxthomas: Unless ur some gifted scientist the chances of you getting a job down here is zero. All the Nigerians I know down here own their own businesses.

Pull out and go where? ZA is by far the biggest economy in the region so I don't see why you guys should lose any sleep.

I am looking at http://southafricathetruth.net/ and I wonder what the owners are trying to achieve. The site show also offer solutions instead of just telling us what is wrong. Maybe I didn't look deep enough.

@coola: I'm not commenting on that website...you'll find that some whites who've decided to leave South Africa justify their decision by feeding off any negativity.
I don't know where these people were two years ago when SA was granted the right to host the World Cup.

Totally off-topic,
@ Kryptik,
Noticed your new signature. Every time I see mention of 2pac I think back to teaching in SA, when my more-than-frequent visits to the school tuck shop, together with a few other regular pupil customers, Sihle, Siyabonga and Chuma, would inspire a rather makeshift parody of the gangsta rapper's classic song 'Do for Love' into 'Do For Food.'

Back to the corruption issues, there's such a focus on corruption in Africa -rightfully so- but let's face it, many of these 'super-power democracies' are just as laced with scandals and wholesale corruption, but these are often so much less transparent, often very well hidden under various extremely powerful guises, particularly large corporate ones.

ROLMAO @ the Do for Food song. Even though I'm a hiphop fiend I never got into Tupac...would rather listen to conscious rap like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul or Gangstarr.
@da wanqsta: The only way we're going to stop corrupt practices on the African continent is to expose the multinational companies doing shady deals here and getting them prosecuted.

@ da brixsta,
Agreed, even though this is further compounded by many people in influential positions virtually becoming 'puppets' to these corporate giants, either silenced with large sums of money under the table, or blackmailed or worse...
Money the root of all evil?
Nah, the love of money be the root of (most) evil.

The other night I had an interesting chat with a Congolese student about issues in his country and even he made the observation that foreign powers/companies were fuelling conflict in Congo to exploit natural resources.

if i seem negative, i thrive on it. it is what encourages me to make change. i see so much opportunity for good, and if i am at a place, i will exploit it for the better. i dont want to end up in australia or elsewhere. if i have to move, i would go to corfu, a lovely greek island. but yeah.
@ pxthomas, nigerians has done alot of damage here, so in jobs, they wont be looked upon favourably.
