Its good comeback from vodacom. Have you read the article on myadsl?
"Nonetheless, Vodacom said it would be offering the “lowest call rates in SA”, with calls from a very competitive 90c per minute, or 1,5c a second. " - (which means nothing to me as I haven't been keeping track of the costs...I just barely ever phone...except my free minutes)
The article can be found on

Would be good. Some competition in the mobile market helps...Just hope Virgin makes it. They deserve to just for providing competition...

Just want you opinion guys, do you all think that we need more mobile networks...perhaps, more intergrated services like for instance your mobile network would be able to provide you with a landline service, satellite television and ADSL and you'd only get a single bill like they have in the US.
Although it sounds very monopolistic, almost like Microsoft bundling IE5 into Windows 95, this would be quite convenient for most people...the trick would be to allow people to opt-out if they didn't like one of the particular services.

I don't mind the bundling of services. I mean, those services are already not of the sort that small companies can provide, so it won't affect me negatively. Our company is sort of a jack of all trades when it comes to IT. From web design, program development, basic IT installations, graphic design, everything. With all this under the belt things have the potential to take off big time.
I would prefer to pay one bill for my mobile and broadband internet(if i had)
I don't watch enough tv to warrant getting dstv.
I do want the bigger companies who can bundle to stay in one arena: mass market services that only big companies can provide. They should leave space for smaller companies to at least start, build up, and if succeeding in that, be able to compete with the big boys.
@ EVERYBODY, has anybody had the time to download those tracks by Tidal Waves? Go to
http://www.tidalwaves.co.za/downloads.html and get Money, and also Kia Ora. Jah Luv is also a favourite. Support our local guys, especially a bunch of black guys who have reached major successes in Neu Zealand and Europe, and best of all, the Hard Rock/Metal locals!lol!

@ da brixsta,
The 'cable' company NTL (formerly Cable and Wireless) offer competitive 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 packages in the UK:
http://www.home.ntl.com/icat/valuepacks
One of the examples:
Talk Weekends, 1Mb Broadband
& Family Pack TV : £39.99 a month gets you:
Unlimited UK landline calls, all weekend, every weekend
Highly competitive mobile call rates
Telephone line rental
Unlimited 1Mb Broadband
Over 170 Digital TV channels
New – ntl on demand
Not only is this pretty damn competitive, but as mentioned, having one inclusive bill instead of dealing with 3 different companies does obviously minimise hassles too.
If one is not too fussed with the additional satellite channels, the 80-channel package option instead of the 170 option above will knock another £10 off the monthly bill, thus £30.00 a month for all 3 services.

The reason for my question is because mobile networks on their own be profitable in SA within the next 5 to 10 years if they don't consolidate other services. I'd get DStv tomorrow if I got some sort of an incentive.
Off on a another tangent, while listening to Bill Gates the other day I thought to myself why couldn't a company like Google link with government and provide free wifi in cities, it would not need to be broadband- just a basic reliable service.

@ francois,
That'll be fantastic news if that package's price indeed materialises around that figure.
Hope there's no funny catches or limitations or 'limited offer for first ...months' etc. in the fineprint when that company's services are all up and running.
Wonder what Hellkom would say about this quote from that site:
"Telephone calls at discounted rates of up to 40%"
Anyway, here's just a few more happy snaps taken with my P900's dated VGA camera, crossing the Thames River using the Woolwich Ferry again, in east London:
