Hey Duran how do ppl get the BROD. Im on latest 02 Firmware and I havent got the BROD. - Do people who have handsets manufactured earlier get the BROD? I doubt its the Firmware if it affects only some of us. If it addects some of us then should it not affect us all with the same FW??

trust me i had that opinion it will affect you, mine worked fine for a week, then i copied files from memory card to phone and it random rebooted, it would just reboot when it wanted. I thought it was fine until it restarted randomly and then never came back on.

Sony should realize it a problem, they might have done and may be writing a new firmware but to realize one thats as unstable as this one is stupid, these things are meant to be tested !!

Mine is still working perfect on 031 since release.
I still think its a hardware problem or a user problem I dont think its the software or SONY would have pulled it by now.

Am using R1EA031 updated via Davinci on my Rogers K850i, never had a BROD. Been 2 months.

Used 1206-0882 Customize ID/Velvet Blue APAC-ANZ flash software

Only problem, Zenon flash does misfire when taking pictures, so they do turn out dark. Otherwise phone works perfectly fine.

My K850 is currently of for repair due to the middle touch button fault that seems to be quite common. I specifically told O2 I didn't want it repaired and instead I wanted it replaced but they've still sent it to the repair agent anyway. Whats the chances that its going to come back fixed? IE, the same fault isn't going to re-appear within a couple of weeks?

On the plus side, I do get to use a Nokia 6300 till I get mine back which I really like, it reminds me of the simply awesome 8310 I had years ago and absolutely loved!!

@1889
Orange just offered a replacement in a call to customer care that lasted less then 2 mins, replacement due to arrive in the next few hours will post impressions.

Gone back to my k800 in mean time and forgot how small the screen was in comparison.

Guys,

Is anybody elses flash really powerful, and as it would appear very hot?

I picked up my phone yesterday evening and the back was pressed against my wallet. I hit the camera button a few times and it took a picture, and flashed. The flash has actually burnt my wallet and there was smoke!

I got a black magazine and laid the phone flat against it, and took a picture - it burnt the magazine.

Is that a hardware issue? It happens with my friends K850i too, and he is using a different firmware.

Is that not a safety hazard? I wouldn't like to have had my hand on the flash when it went off!

Greetings...

I got my K850 back from CPW last Friday after over 2 weeks being repaired for the droopy middle button issue. This morning I woke up to find that the regular reset had resulted in a BROD

I've had a BROD before and fixed it with Da Vinci. However that seemed to change the CDA even though I chose "Same CDA" for the firmware. Rather than wait two weeks for CPW to fix it again, I wish to do so myself, so :

1) Which is best, Da Vinci or the other one with the funny name?
2) Can I "fix" my CDA by putting it back to the same as it was before?
3) Which firmware should I be going for to avoid future BRODs?

Cheers,

Kev
