superior detail by i-mobile ??? hope you kidding me....
night shoots and most indoor macro looks great with i-mobile902, BUT outdoor, daylight pics, (landscape, larger views, etc) looks crap...

i-mobile902 daylight pics is just smeary even in shrinked size, and even worse of course in full size. (it have no clear, sharp quality at all, it may have less Noise, but the quality overall ????).

i dont see what was wrong with the imobile 902 pictures, looks good to me, and its still a sony ccd in it

http://www.esato.com/phonepho[....]&make=sony+ericsson&model=c902 ,
That is not low light, the camera was pointed at the sunset as the light source producing iso 64 1/80 which is not low-light or anywhere near the c902's max exposure time.

Agree with Max wedge on the sensor issue, why, because he's right, though nice to see Plank blowing it out of his ass on this matter, as per usual.

Well, it depends on what you prefer. Do you want your full size photos to look like this:

or like this:

too much detail loss on the 1st pic,

but to get the topic back, I'll post the other swivels I had. I would pick up another s710a, but there isnt a way to put chinese on it, since s700i has some hw differences and I'd take one with us freq to use when I need 850 over the radio

I got a good deal on this s710a, but then sold it to a friend, who really wanted it, but he then broke it by throwing it up a ceiling fan since he "likes" to toss his phone up and down like a ball

had w550i, I guess my favorite se have been swivels, hehe

Still, that said, I'd still own a C902 over the imobile, since the imobile is a pretty shite phone in my view.

C902 sensor is far better than K800 and K850; c902 doesn't need anywhere as much Noise Reduction. And C905 is better again, so SE are improving all the time.

well. like you said yourself....i either wouldnt change from c902 to i-mobile902 for all money in the world.......
(besides..c902 outdoor quality is more clearer & crispy and have better colors).

You guys need to stop mentioning CCD. See how plankgatan loses it and ruins the thread with complaints about the i-mobile 902 (since it's the only CCD camphone he knows of) while throwing superlatives on his C902. Let's see what the samples from the Sharp SH-01A (8 MP CCD) looks like and his reaction to these. I bet he will find faults in them that he can't see in his C902 shots...

Anyway, I agree with max_wedge. The i-mobile 902 is a piece of crap. I have owned three so far and each of them had some form of problem:
Phone 1: Too many dead pixels
Phone 2: Twisted sensor and phone sometimes dies in the middle of a call
Phone 3: ISO 200 produces strange green noise at the bottom of a photo, plus that the phone goes into some loop while on standby, becoming hot and draining the battery in less than half an hour.

Since each of these three have had some camera fault I have come to the conclusion that SAMART (the i-mobile 902 producer) bought rejected camera modules from Sony for a low price and used these in the 902.

Having said that, the i-mobile 902 shows how CCD beats the pants of CMOS when it comes to low noise and sensitivity to light. Since it uses CCD it doesn't need noise reduction so it's photo have so much more detail. My next camphone will be one that can produce this kind of night shot:

...with a lens like this:

See how I managed to steer back on topic with that last photo?
