That's why our business sector is so lopesided... the moronic gov't is always butting in. Unless they're doing something illegal, it should be a free market. Why didn't the NTC step in when Sun introduced their 24/7 plan? Kasi if that's their reasoning... then kawawa yung Smart and Globe... "they might lose subscribers"... DUH. That's business.

i understand where you're coming from but the circumstances should be taken into consideration.
it is the smaller telcos who have asked the NTC to looked into it because they do not have the financial muscle to compete in the same level.
these smaller telcos have been encouraged to get into the business by the government to prevent the monopoly of the telco business. it takes time before small fries can compete with sharks. for now, all these fries can do is ask for protection until they can fend for themselves.
in the case of Sun's 24/7, i don't think Globe or Smart considered them as a good enough threat. They already have enough number of subcribers, and they're earning oodles from these subscribers. we've been seeing a steady increase in profitability of Globe and Smart in the last few years.
There will come a time that Sun must reach their target number of subscribers or they won't be able to sustain their 24/7 offer and their present number subscribers would start experiencing network problems. (I'm now having a difficult time making calls or sending SMS on Sun. That wasn't the same 3-4 weeks ago.)
Competition, in the end, is always the best for us.
