@incitatus
i think you overlooked the fact that the brouhaha was not because of grammatical correctness or intelligence.

i'm not only curious about your choice of nick but your timing and intention as well.

but, like always, i (being one of those you addressed in general) will take anyones advise with heaps of salt.

PS
modern psychologist now agrees that there are multiple facets of intelligence, and they've identified as much as 25 "sub-intelligence" areas. analytical skills is only one of those.

@jplacson
But then, that is the law for you.

NTC cannot be pro-active and automatically investigate Sun. They have to receive a formal complaint first from an "aggrieved" party.

I have never been a supporter of laws that mandates any kind of protection of one group from another. IMO, innovation should drive businesses, not their ability to muscle out smaller players by using their financial strengths.

There are more substantial issues that I wish NTC would look into. Among them is VOIP. Among those who are prominently against commercial proliferation of VOIP is PLDT.

VOIP will kill a substantial part of PLDT's income derived from "voice" services.

I would appreciate if you can share you thoughts in the thread about the nuances of the English language. (http://mobile.esato.com/viewtopic.php?topic=79746&forum=12)

See you there.

Gowin, I agree as well that the NTC shouldn't be proactive... but I believe that they shouldn't dictate how to run your own business.

Until anything illegal has been proven to be done, I think they had no right to impose a hold order on Smart and Globe. That's like guilty until proven innocent.

What I find annoying is that when PLDT was the monopoly, the NTC protected them and imposed the 2 Service Provider restriction (which has now recently been lifted) and kept the smaller telcos from providing the rest of us with cheaper and better landline alternatives. (Globe was not allowed in Pque up until recently... only PLDT and Smart landlines were allowed)

And now that Globe and Smart are offering lower, or no NDD charges... the NTC is ordering them to continue charging? It's like they are out to specifically screw the consumers into paying more at all turns.

Whether it can be said that better late than never... well, that doesn't exactly fly in the IT industry. You keep up, or get left behind. And honestly... the NTC has done nothing but hold back th development of our local communication systems.

If they can't govern communication laws... and sway at every little complaint without evaluating the validity of the complaint first before slapping fines and hold-orders here and there... they'd actually be doing their job! *shock*

It's like they get so overwhelmed with what they are tasked to do, so at every single bump... hold-order... give the NTC brains time to process the info... in the mean time, IT in our country gets bogged down cuz a couple of 386SX-brained idiots over there can't see the big picture.

Sorry for the intense griping... but I've had major complaints about our NTC since they don't seem to know what they're doing! (Then again, that goes for our entire gov't... so what should make the NTC any different right?)
