@fatreg: To be honest, I'm not sure if the iMac has 2 IDE slots inside. I'm fairly sure it doesn't have space for more than one internal drive though.
However, with the iMac open you may be able to daisy-chain the new drive to the old one in master-slave configuration, reboot, then use "Carbon Copy Cloner" to clone the old drive to the new one. Then disconnect and reboot on the new drive.
While you're at it though, I'd definately recommend partitioning the new drive. Have one for the Mac OS and Applications, and another for iTunes music for instance, and another for all your files. Makes life a lot easier if you ever need to re-install the OS.
@indian:
I always recommend Crucial for Mac RAM. Much cheaper than Apple.
Just choose your Mac from their series of pop-ups for Manufacturer and Model etc.

Just drag the Applications folder onto the dock, as you would any other icon. Then single-click to open the Apps folder, or click and hold to reveal a menu with all your apps on to launch them.
Perhaps I am being a Muppet but I can't get this to work - I drag it to the dock but it wont add the icon - it simply returns to my Mac HD window from which I am dragging it?! What am i doing wrong?
Cheers

Try dragging it to the area immediately to the left of the Trashcan icon (in between the Trash and the feint vertical divider line).
