@Gabster + others that are having battery and slow down problems:
- what third-party apps are you using?
- are you using the original 64MB M2 card or one that has been freshly formatted
- have you tried to reflash the firmware
- are you using a 2g or 3g SIM
I am using Handy Base, a new M2 card (1gb) and 3g SIM

I agree with your additional points, I do feel the M600 and P990 will be successful because I can see alot of good improvements over the previous UIQ, and I too love the form factor (and wish the k-jam was this thin!). I also realise the reality of buying early (because I always do).
To be honest, having read stuff here I upgraded mine to R1B as soon as I took it out of the box so goodness only knows how it was on the original (alledged) production version firmware that came to me on the device!

none at present

original, unchanged
- have you tried to reflash the firmware
yes, after you suggested that over the weekend
- are you using a 2g or 3g SIM
to be honest I don't know, this is one that Vodafone supplied me when they sent me the V800 to test
When testing a phone I prefer to keep everything as original as possible
@peterkay, the supplied demo video plays very nicely but I plan to test others tonight

if i get one, i will be using a 2g sim, buy a new m2 card, and will want to run non uiq apps, but will only install when firmware is better than it is now...
Is it a problem if i use the above?
cheers

I've run the phone with the original software for a week with two major hickups (had to pull the battery both time).
After upgrading to r1b I hade som connectivity problems, but they disappeard after a factory reset.
No problem with the battery, exept from that usb-charging sucks

.
Opera-mini is my favourite app (as it's on my other phones).
/Cheers

Hi all... finally, someone asks this question about video playback... I was really disappointed with it that after trying out over the weekend, I gave up

Let's hope newer firmware would solve all the issues I encountered.
Ok, with hardware acceleration for MP4 at full 30 fps, I encoded an MTV, 320 x 240, 30/29.97 fps (tried both), AAC audio strereo 44.1Khz at 96kbps. The file turns out to be 12MB for a 5 min MTV clip. Try playing back on the phone, its video quality is really only about the same as the demo video... but worse of all, it hang after a few seconds of playback... Re-encode a couple other MTVs but still the same... I believe it needs to lower down the audio bit rates, but with hardware acceleration via Nexperia, this should not be the case
Then, I tried movie trailers downloaded from the link below (trailers designed for SE phones), and to my disappointment again, the phone still sometimes hanged when it's running low on memory to that fact that I had to perform hard reboot. Note the high quality ones are still .3gp only with mono audio at 22.1Khz...

Note the website seems to be down currently. Perhaps try again later or tomorrow.
TCPMP/SmartMovie 3.x (CoreMP4 codec) on a P910i easily beats the M600i with current R1B01 firmware both in terms of video playback (with stereo audio) quality as well as stability. The file sizes are also comparable, at 12MB for a 5 min MTV clip.

@JorgenSt
USB charging can be switched off
Connections>USB> then uncheck the option to charge via USB

@masseur
okay,
1. does that mean your 64MB M2 also did not include the trial third party apps? Try to reformat it using the format facility in the File Manager
2. your probably have a 3G SIM, I assume when you're in London you see the 3G icon on the status bar?
As you have already reflashed besides the fact I use T-mobile, I see no other differences between our devices (besides the color!) so I'm not what is going on here. Lets hope SE get another firmware version out soon

Did somebody has Wayfinder on his M2 Card ? I red in MR forum that the devices from Sweden have it, but I had the following mail from the Wayfinder support department ......
quote :
Hello Marc!
thank you for your e-mail and your interest!
I'm sorry but the SE M600 is not compatible with the Wayfinder Navigator at the moment.
We cannot exclude that it will be implemented in the future, we are testing some new Sony Ericsson and trying to render them compatible with the software of Wayfinder, but we can not yet answer when this will exactly happen.
In order to check the complete list of the supported phones in the near future, visit the link below:
http://www.wayfinder.com/products/compatible_phones.en.php
Don't hesitate to contact me for any further clarification you may need!
Sincerely,
