I agree with you, especially the last sentance! I think that N95 (yes N95) is the best at the moment when it comes to speed @ this level. But imho it leaks ram, it is not so easily "killed" as P990 but still it can be done. I chat (msn), surf web, and listen to music. That is already some multitasking and N95 handles it quite well.

I think i will not swap my N95 for a P1i, but surely will test it (p1i).

Quote:However, the slowness will still be there. It could have been a lot different, with this much RAM if the P1 only had a faster processor...This is not fully agreed by our expert. The current processor could provide lightning fast responses, provided the OS, the UI layer, and the applications are all programmed for optimal performance. Which is not the case, just remember the transition effects, and imagine many others that you do not realize that easily.

So in reality I'm right
As long as the P1 doesn't get a serious sw revision over what it has now..
Which also implies that theoretically (only because of SE's disregard for supporting its customers) the P990 speed and responsiveness could have been improved... Sigh...

Hi all,

As much as i understand what Lisa is saying you just can't convince me a faster processor and graphics chip would not of been a welcome upgrade on a 2nd generation device. It really is IMO this Nexperia chip that is holding back these devices from being so much more.

I have used my P1i for 2 days now, and it's the fastest smartphone I have ever used. No memory problems, no software problems at all so far!

Have seen P1i compared to E90 on this topic, so thought let you all know that after trying the E90 for 10 days, I would advise those considering moving from UIQ to the E90, not to do so lightly. You may find hardware issues not expected from Nokia, and software very limiting. Have gone back to my P990, warts & all, and will get the P1i for the today screen which I loved on M600 and sorely miss on my P990. By the way I buy every high-end phone that come out.

@henkeee

Glad to hear it maybe you could answer a couple of questions for me relating to it's speed.

How long to being usable from cold start?

How long to open Calendar and entering data?

Same for messaging preferably e-mail?

Also how long to start the web browser and fully opened Home Page?

Many thanks

Marc
