@driveforward: It looks like O2 is the only operator in the UK that will carry the P1i for now. Had a similar experience with Orange, they didn't even know IF they were going to have the P1, let alone WHEN.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that T-Mobile have actually said that they are NOT going to do the P1 at all. Your only hope is that one of the webshops (look at mobile shop or similar) will offer it and use the usual cash back offer to pay towards the phone.
O2 UK users: is there any sign of the infamous 10 point voucher (P1-choice) in the box anywhere?
I've decided to give them another chance... fully expecting the phone in stock - out of stock - in stock - out of stock song and dance... will try and get a bit of credit out of them if they do

hi, i went into an o2 store yesterday in london and they didnt have any in stock or have any idea when they are getting them..i explained they are selling on o2 online which they replied..yeah we know.
im so torn whether to get a p1 now or wait for the w960i..may help decide if i could have a mess about with a p1...
Same response from my local O2 store. I too am hoping to have a play around with one first and am also torn between getting the P1 now or waiting for the W960i which I believe is due around November. I wonder what the delay is all about, are they simply hoping to spread sales across the year?
One immediate question for P1i owners I do have, is the camera quality exactly the same as the K800? I'm an infrequent photographer (see blog link below) so would want the camera to be at least the same.
A quick google search brought up this review "The P1i offers all the photographic settings like white balance, shoot mode, night mode, self-timer and a smattering of effects. A 3x digital zoom is also available for prowling in for close-ups but remember picture quality deteriorates the further you zoom in. You won’t be disappointed with the final photos and they’re just about comparable in quality to its K800i and K810i Cyber-shot cousins. The P1i delivers a good level of detail and contrast (especially on macro mode), strong colour and tones and keen focus"
Is everyone in agreement with that?

@Lee: Haven't got the P1 yet, it's on order, but from what I understand is that the hardware is the same as the K800, but the camera doesn't perform as well (yet). It is hoped that future firmware updates will rectify this. It hasn't got the same xenon flash, so indoor shots won't be that brilliant.

Anyone looking for a screen protector should check out the martin fields one for P1.
I have ordered a MF screen protector, but haven´t got it yet.
Do you have a good advice or two, how to apply it?
I still have the factory protector left on the phone.
Best bet is to simply clean the screen before applying it, just peel off the backing (hold it by the edges) and then slowly put in place... Use a credit card to remove any air bubbles... The fit on the P1 means you dont need to try and get it in place (as i did with my M600 and P990) as its such a snug fit!
If you get any dust under the protector use a couple bits on selotape to lift the protector and remove dust from the screen...

I've been using this phone since Friday and I'm very impressed.
Slowly getting used to the keyboard now. I tend not to do so much texting so it's not really an issue with me. Once you start to get a feel for where the keys are, ie they're not offset like a standard keyboard then it's fine.
The battery life seems superb, especially when compared to the Nokia N80/N95. I used TomTom for a good few hours on Saturday, plenty of bluetooth transfers at home, connected to the Wifi for quite some time and played around with the software on it for ages. Throw in some listening to music and the battery lasted all day long, try that on an N95 and see how far you get. I reckon it will last around 2-3 days once my use of it settles down to normal.
Now for the gripe I have. Why can't SE adopt the voice dialling the S60v3 devices have. They tend to allow voice dialling without the need to record tags.
I think one gripe is pretty darn fine.

I'm tempted to follow the lead of some of you guys and buy a sim free P1i so i can use it on a t-mobile tariff. Sounds from what's being said like x1387 is a good place to get it.
I've not ordered anything of this kind of value from overseas before. Are there any hidden costs (eg. tax, customs etc) or anything else I should watch out for?

Import tax is always a possibility.
It is a gamble as you can't be sure you won't be paying it. Usually, sellers like X1387 try to make it easier to escape the tax by putting a low value on the packet. The other side of the medl is that if the package is lost, you can sit on the price difference.
Some people like Masseur have been lucky and didn't have to pay it, others got stung. I think it's 17.5% of the retail value.

Thanks remirez.
Just realised that I didn't point out I'm UK based!
