Heh actually it's not a real SE Service center, hence my question...It's definitely worth a try, in any other case I might just borrow a data cable and do it on my own...Was just watching the Video DaVince manual...Hm, seems my firmware is not part of the ones available for the K700 (R2AE_EU_1_C)...Got English, Greek, Automatic and Shqip as available languages, am I missing something here, the EU1 listed in the tutorial does not support, greek, or does it?
Is this one below giving any hints?

EMEA_3

my bad, just noticed that EMEA_3 lists EN EL SQ, so that must be it...I'm just not used reffering to
GReek as H
ELlenic nowadays, but seems like there's a trend towards it..which I'm ok with

Do not worry. You can download all languages from the server, EMEA_3 included. It's just that they use EU_1 in the guide.

Second, changing the sms tones is a bonus.
Do you mean that one can finally assign a .mid for sms tone? Because the 5-6 different default ones have been there since R2L AFAIK...

You can't actually assign one, but with DaVinci, you can overwrite the message tone files on the phone with your own ones, if this makes sense! So it's not a firmware option, just replacing the files on the phone.

Exactly, you change the original ones for 6 new ones, or change just one. And they have to be in the Midi format. The files in the phone are simply replaced with the ones you choose in DaVinci. You don't get an option in the phone to be able to change it.

Hi..
I tried to upgrade the firmware of k700i from SE website.
Finally I can go a bit further than before.
All synchronise and green on the phone monitor.
After accepting the policy, it will coming up the update service 1.43.
Then I've got this error:
"Your device is not permitted to use this service
Your operator has not approved the usage of this service for this device.
We look forward to assisting you again soon.
Thank you for using the Sony Ericsson Update Service! "
Do you know what is that mean?
I already tried to use Virgin and Optus simcard but both still receiving the same error message.
I also tried to update service from different country but still got the same result.
Did I miss something or have you experience it before?
Based on the knowledge base, I only can perform the update from the service centre but I bought the phone from overseas therefore the warranty not cover it unless I paid for it but I bought dss25 already so I dont want to spend more money.
Could you please help?
Thank you.
Note: My phone is unbranded. R2a041. prgCXC125882_hong_kong_c

Your phone is being rejected by the update service as the operator specific CDA you have has not approved the phone for SEUS.

so...what should I do to update firmware?
Any solution?
Are you saying if I bought the phone from Singapore, then I need to use Singapore sim card and go to singapore SE website to update the firmware?

@insi
Changing the sim card doesn't change the branding of your phone. If your phone's branding doesn't allow the use of SEUS, you can't simply use SEUS. It's as simple as this. BTW, the SEUS sites are basically the same globally; they are only different in language localisations.
