There will be some competition during the year.. and Nokia can shove something somewhere... The opponent is from Apple...
http://www.apple.com/iphone
It has the needed properties. Touchscreen, camera (I would have guessed a better one, but seems to be a 2mp) and of cause wifi. And the screen has a resolution of 320x480!
Internal memory will be 4GB and 8GB...
I really have to test one to see if I like it as much as the p990. To just have the screen for writing texts may be the weak point.... or the strong one... hm...

The problem was the regional settings... I stated that the phone and the comp. reg. settings are both UK-English it worked fine and now it is new fw.
Could anybody turn off transitions? That was one I was expecting from new fw. And still apps run at the bacground when I check from the task mgr.
So far it works faster...

I've seen the little info available for iPhone. As much as I admire Steve Jobs, mobile devices are a strange breed. Personally, looking at both hw and sw side, I see the most potential and ease of use with the UIQ+Symbian combination. We were all angry about the Symbian signed requirement SE keeps pushing but I don't even want to think of the Apple requirements...
I just remind myself that these aren't programming platforms but tools we customize to our requirements and depend on heavily everyday. It gives me the creeps to think of what, if any, customization options Apple would provide. I hope I'm wrong though, I really would like to see a solid competition to SE's P series.

@dr_thug
the priority thing is inside the group accound for telling it which GPRS/WLAN/etc accounts it should try to connect to first.
I have my WLAN at the top so it uses that by default instead of connecting to GPRS for no reason...
@Everyone else
iPhone seriosly looks cool, but not really my taste, there'd be too much grease on the screen...

@Dogle
You have to do 2 things that depend on your mobile provider:
1. To set the access point (internet account on P990)
2. to set the "number" to dial in on PC
As an example, for TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile) I use:
1. ibox.tim.it
2. *99***1#
In none of the 2 I have to insert a password
So, you have to check with your provider those two settings.

Is there a way to turn off the Mildlet permissons request that appears every time I try access web pages in (for example) opera mini and gmail? under the permissons tab in tools I see only 3 options, "ask every session"/"always ask"/don't allow. Is there a way to turn off the permissions warning for sites that I trust? (using a p990)

You first have to find the CID number for your internet connection (GPRS).
The CID determines what number to use in *99***1# (This would be CID=1). The easiest way is of course to use the mobile networking wizard, but if you are having problems with it just use Windows XP and add a new network connection using P990 Bluetooth modem.
