I would like to hear what your opinion is about the 2 MP camera of the P990. I have a mixed opinion. It seems that in good lighting conditions (natural light) the pictures really are good, however, especially indoors even with flash the pictures are of inferior quality. Macro mode is a gamble, sometimes it's OK sometimes not, I guess again depending on light conditions and surface of the subject. I've taken test photos with the P990 and with my Cannon IXUS 60, just comparing the focus to the objects, most of the time the P990 photos are really good, but every once in a while they are just not acceptable. I really think this condition is also firmware related. Another thing I'm puzzled about is the size of the photos. About 250KB seems awfully small for a 2 MP picture at 1600x1200. Could this be related to the fuzzy pictures for contacts? Again an issue for the future firmware update.

Regarding the camera, i think macro mode kicks ass, and that you can get great images with it, but:
It has focus problems, k750 focus better
It uses too much compression on the JPEG files, thatīs why they are small
I think the noise reduction system is too stong sometimes, even with good light, causing some landscape photos to appear too soft
I do thing SE didnīt gave any work to the camera software since early firmwares, and they should be doing it...

aside from the pic size, there is another setting for pic quality. i have mine on fine and the pics are usually bigger than 500 K.

The other settings are "Good/Normal/Economic", I have it set up at "Good", resulting picture size is 429 KB with FC and 457 KB with FO, same scene 5 seconds apart. As @Ares pointed out, the compression does seem a little too much, I would expect a 2 MP photo at 1600x1200 to be around 1 MB at the least with compression.

No one outside SE would know that for sure but all indications are that SE is working on new fw. Hardware wise, P990 is still state-of-the-art so there is no logical reason why SE should abandon it.
Since the last fw update, the phone's performance is quite acceptable. The only areas that are in urgent need of updates are:
1- Opera
2- WLAN
3- Camera (focusing and picture quality)

I don't know if this have been covered: My old P800 had to different types of vibration so it's was easy to feel the difference between call or message. I don't know if this was the case with P900/P910 but I really miss this feature on P990. I have my phone in a pouch and often on silent mode. Is it possible to have different vibration on P990 through sofware? Any thoughts on this?

dunno about that, but usually a message only vibrates once. if it keeps vibrating it is a call.
