@da wanqsta: Yes, mfowethu...occasionaly it happens to all of us...my streak of good luck seems to have run out with Vodacom.

I felt so depressed (yes, that's what happens when you can't use your phone) that I thought of getting another contract with MTN and using my current line exclusively for work calls. What irks me most about this episode is that Vodacom seems inflexible...why can't they say for instance allow me to buy recharge vouchers if I'd run out on my limit...instead they gave me the option to migrate to higher call plan...I said no, thanks.

Why?

@ Mr Brix

I think you have that 3 months mandatory limit, thats why they cant remove it so quick, they need at least 3 months consistent payment then its automaticly removed.

@RicK700: If you're going from a K700i straight to a Series60 phone get prepared for the shock of your life. The N70 is a slow coach, when it comes to browsing menus and multi-tasking. Last night I could actually hear it groan under the weight of expectation as I ran several applications and a 3D game all at once while listening to the radio.

@786KBR: Only this morning they explained to me that there would be a three month period in which my balance would be limited to a certain amount. I say that's cool, but why are they so inflexible?

They need to protect themselves from people on illegal spending sprees, so they keep a limit so the customer doesnt abuse it, or even the so called "stupid" clients that say they didnt know how much they were using and then start crying for a refund.... its just std procedure...

If you really want I can advise you to someone who can help

@786KBR: I suppose you're right...they need to protect themselves but like I said I'm sitting here without a service and no-one told me when I signed my contract that this could happen. And no, I didn't read the fineprint.

@ da brixsta,
I suppose a short term option would be to use a secondary/ back-up phone with a PAYG sim until things are sorted out with your contract phone...?

This site bored me. Thats why i stayed away. Just a few hours ago my N-Gage with my MTN contract sim got stolen inside my bedroom. I was at the gym and my N-Gage was lying on top of a cd rack when this happened. The phone wasnt worth much to me but my mom phoned her garden workers to return it. Have to phone Nashua Mobile to tell them to block the contract sim and to give me a new sim. :-( This message was posted from a K700i

@Brix, i know what you mean, and even though you didn't read the fine print, you DO have the right to expect to be informed of the contents of said fine print when you sign a contract. That's the law, although the bigger companies tend to gloss these things over.

I once had a similar situation with MTN, involving them charging me a migratory fee when i took out a new contract etc etc a few years ago. The upshot was that they handed me over to their legal dept... And i responded by seeking summary judgment against them. What's more, i made them pay my legal bills, square things with the credit bureax where they'd listed me (the madars!) AND apologize for the inconvenience. Don't take it lying down, boet.

Hey guys.Haven't posted here in ages. Read a lot of the stuff tho.Keeps me up to date on the latest stuff in SA. Francois: from my experience with my k700, a firmware update took about an hour at vodacare here in Durban. My bro jus recently got the w810i on contract and i upgraded his firmware on SEUS. Worked perfectly and was done in an hour. Best way to go is to take your phone to a vodacare that know what they're doing. Hope this helped.cheers
