No joy for me on Voda UK (still stuck on R1AA) on each of two handsets:
102338/2 R32A VFE_2
102338/68 R4A EUROPE_2
What CDAs do those Voda UK users who successfully upgraded have?
Cheers
Tom

As I see it there are three quite separate but possibly confused issues with mp3 sound quality on the firmware I am currently stuck with on my O2 W800i (R1AA008):
Constant low-level hiss when the headphone output is enabled
Additional "fizzing" crackle during fade-in/fade-out and quiet passages on songs
Occasional clunks (like the headphone amplifier's being turned off and on) in the silence between songs
(1) I suspect is unavoidable and because of poor quality audio components. (2) I understand is the bug introduced when SE fixed a distortion problem. (3) especially seems to happen if the skip functions have been used but this is not certain. (1) and (2) in particular are only really noticeable with the supplied headphones, and not with hi-fi etc.
There seems to be some confusion over what hisses, pops and crackles are and are not present/resolved in the more recent firmwares, so perhaps breaking the problems down into these specific categories might help.
Can anyone then confirm which, if any, of the above numbered issues are fixed in R1BC002 or later?

Hi all again,
I have a question for you people who use DaVinci credits to update your phone firmware ..
Regarding SE W800i , does DaVinci have the new firmware R1CA021 for it ??? or only the R1BC002 ?????
Cause if DaVinci got the new F/W R1CA021, it means SEUS will release it as well sooner .. but if DaVinci only have R1CA021 for K750i .. it means SEUS will NOT release anything for W800i ..
Or maybe i am wrong ??

Yeach.. I guess R1CA021 will never be released for W800i...What's the deal then since R1CA021 only improves the camera driver to 5.3...it's a must for K750 as an imaging phone but it's not for a Walkman phone...W800 has already gotten its successor : W810...so, everything you want is in the new phone. R1CA021 is also the final firmware for K750 as K800 will be announced in the end of June...Or Am I mistaken?

yes you are mistaken.
Firmwareupdates does not stop just because a sucessor to the phone is released. Example: new firmwareupdates for K700 were released long after K750 were released. Theres no such things as "final firmware" untill S//E find that all relevant bugs/issues are solved. This may be R1CA021, or it may not be, we dont know that yet, and it definately has nothing to with a new model being released or not.
Somtetimes though, you do see that some users feel that certain issues are not solved even when S//E desides for "final firmware" - depending on relevans of issue. Its not impossible to see that a minority of users complain about something that most others dont care for or dont experience, and something that S//E doesnt think is an issue. Or you might see that certain issues are not solved simply because they cannot be solved. So im not saying that firmwaredevelopment for a specific phone continues forever untill every single user on the planet is satisfied, but S//E never abandons firmwaredevelopment of a phone with known bugs, that can be fixed. just because they release a new model.

Don't you think that 'orange' might have something to do with the poor performance? Or maybe even that beige box you are plugging the grey lead in to? The vast majority of people have no troubles at all.
I have a range of memory cards, none of which are problematic.
Instead of blaming the memory card why don't you investigate your computer system, whatever software you are using to transfer files across the lead, and then search the net for people experiencing any similar problems.
Maybe you've gotten a dud card, maybe your operating system is loaded up with spyware and a million viruses, maybe it's all good and Orange screwed up the firmware... There are numerous possibilities - since you don't provide any details on the problem, or steps that others can follow to reproduce the problem, how do you expect anyone to help?
Not jumping down your throat in particular, just a little mystified by people who would rather bitch and be spoon fed rather than try to solve their own problems.
Cheers.

Have you tried formatting the memory card & then transferring stuff to it via the USB lead?
Are you using the "Safely Remove Hardware" option on your Windows taskbar before you unplug the phone from the USB lead?
Ive got a 2GB card in my K750I on Orange running R1CA021 firmware & have no problem with file transfer.

My orange uk w800i has been updating via seus and the green bars are at the end but it still says updating software, please do not touch the phone and its been like that for the last 15-20 mins. I know its to risky to just disconnect it but it doesn't look like its going to stop. Does anyone know of a safe way to end the update safely??
Please help......thanks
