BTW, if you buy your RAM from Crucial, go via Quidco to get 7% cashback:

http://www.quidco.com/crucial-technology-uk/

Or go to the link below for 5% off:

http://www.crucial.com/macuser

To possibly combine the two discounts, try the following:

Clear your cookies before going through your QuidCo link to the Crucial website. Once on the Crucial website, copy and paste this link into your address bar: http://www.crucial.com/macuser

There's a possibility it might not track, but it should do once you're on Crucial's website...

Hi guys! Well, I'm geting used to my Mac, but I stil have some unclear areas. First, of all I have a fear, I got a reconditioned Macbook or the built quality just rubbish.
1, The touchpad already showing signs of heavy use! You know when you having you laptop for a long, the part of the touchpad where you mostly tap it is getting shiny and sticky. I can assure everyone, it's perfectly clean. So, after less then 3 weeks the touchpad became very uncomfortable, because that's the part where I put my finger in instinct.

2, The mousebutton showing signs of heavy use! The left side is, where I usualy press it, has the same problem as the touchpad. It's geting very shiny and if I take a close look, it seem like the paint or coat is coming of in some part. It's like chiping off...

3, Also with the mousebutton, on the left side it has a dark grey spot inside the matterial and it's look like some dirt on it, but it's not.

4, The Page up and Page down buttons are not even. On the left side of the little gap between them they about 0.8 mm far from each other and only about 0.2 mm on the right.

So, these things are realy bugging me, especialy after my pocket is 1 grand lighter.
Also is it usual to have such a heavy "new smell" for many days after you purchased it? I know there are "new smell sprays" on the market...
Last question about this part: Isn't is supposed to came with some protective plastic on the screen when it's brand new? My one had nothing on it!
I'm not very happy about these things...

Problems inside:

5, Safari: Why does it eating half of my memory up? Like yesterday it had 491MB of memory usage when I checked it. Now it has 271MB. I'm not very happy to reset it or empty the cash every day... Is it normal? Also, sometimes it's very slow and it wont even load the sites. I don't wanna use Firefox because of this. I like only one software for one thing!

6, iTunes: Only 856 songs/6.91GB and it's already geting slow! When I scroll down with the "album view" view it's chopy. What will happen when I'll have 3 or 4 times more than this??? It's a bit annoying!

7, iPhoto: It's seems like it doesn't matter if I delete an album, it still has it, in the iPhoto folder. I'm working with photos like 4-5MB each, so I'll expect my hard disk to be full in a week or so. Also, many, many pictures appear in the folder more than once and it's not very easy to sort it out...

8, And after a bit more than 2 weeks I can feel my Macbook geting, slower and slower. Like the dashboard! I hide it and when I move the pointer down to make it appear, it's very chopy sometimes! Actualy I've noticed that many times! Acrobat Reader was fine in the first couple of days and now when I try to read the exactly the same document I was reading that time it's very chopy to scroll. Oh, I haven't installed anything stupid, nothing in the startup folder and when I had to uninstall anything I've used Appzapper!

So, to be honest I like the thing now or got used to it (dunno), but these problems make me think what is wrong with this???

Thanks guys, for any advice!!!

Can't answer your hardware questions because a) I don't have a MacBook, and b) they should probably be answered by the retailer.

5) Depends what sites you are visiting. Flash-heavy sites will obviously use a lot more memory than text ones. Just quit it and re-load if you think its getting slow.

It's always useful to have Firefox anyway, just for a few sites that work better in it. In fact, on my Mac I run both Safari and Firefox at the same time and switch between the two constantly. For some sites I prefer one or the other.

6) Well, I've got over 4500 tracks in my iTunes on a slow 1.25Ghz G4 Processor and although its not super-speedy, its ok. This link may help.

How much physical RAM do you have? Like all computers the more you have the better. Also, how many open programs do you have when you notice this choppy-ness?

A common thing that Windows-switchers do is leave dozens of applications open. Closing the last window in a Mac app doesn't necessarily close the application like it does on Windows.

In the Dock, if the application icon has a small black triangle underneath it, then that means the application is still running. Right-click on the icon and choose 'Quit' to properly close the application.

7) Sounds like you are not emptying iPhotos Trash folder after deleting pictures. Right-click on iPhotos Trash can in the list on the left-hand side and choose 'Empty Trash'. Also, deleting an Album does not automatically delete all the photos in the Album. They will still be in your Library because you can have the same photo in different Albums. So, just click on Library on the left-hand side and drag any photos you don't want to the iPhoto trash, then empty the iPhoto trash. But be warned, this will really delete the photo, so make sure you have it backed up elsewhere!

If you have active Dashboard widgets that update information when viewed, then there might be a bit of a delay (choppyness) when opening Dashboard as the widget goes off onto the Internet to update the info. Just close down any widgets you're not using to minimise this.
