As much as i understand what Lisa is saying you just can't convince me a faster processor and graphics chip would not of been a welcome upgrade on a 2nd generation device.

I am inclined not to consider the P1 as a 2nd generation UIQ3 device. Same hardware (almost), same OS... I really expect more improvements from a next generation device.

How long to being usable from cold start?

- First time, a couple of minutes, now about one minute or so

How long to open Calendar and entering data?
- 3 seconds perhaps

Same for messaging preferably e-mail?

- About 3 seconds as well

Also how long to start the web browser and fully opened Home Page?

- With my Wlan up and running, about 5 seconds

@henkeee, did you test these after restart without having run the applications previously?

I walked into a Vodfone store this weekend in Essex UK and was informed of the following:

"We have been told the P1 is a good few months away from release on our network, I cant give you any more information than that mate"

I decided not to accept a handset with my company SIM so I can have the P1 as soon as it becomes available, Unsurprisingy it looks like I, and many other Vodafone customers are in for a long wait!

Expansys now have it as being available in 2 days so I'm keeping a close eye there. no mention on mphone etc and nothing on ebay from x1387 yet so I suspect this 2 days will blow out as often happens on expansys

edit: correction, they just replied to me that they are now expecting them on the 25th July

Expansys have now updated their website to state that the P1i is due Friday 27th July... But I have an email from them confirming the price at £394.95

Expansys are not the fastest when it comes to releasing phones....when it gets released, usually guys like X1387 on Ebay will get it first. Hopefully it's very soon as I dying for a new UIQ phone. I'm excited about the camera and having more RAM....loved the M600i form factor to
