Well.. it might be discontinued when it comes to production of them but its still sold new.. that means the people buying it now will get updates if its needed at least a year ahead so there will be more updates. I also got a S700i and cant say I have other problems then the slow menu.

i think it's always worth updating your firmware... My phone's firmware is R3M... But it still has the "phonebook bug" (the bug where you can't search the phonebook for more than one character). Quite annoying if you want to call someone in the middle of your phonebook without revealing the keypad. However, I am able to mute the camera shutter sound by putting the phone in silent mode...

asian versions? what do they think of the "asian" users? illiterate? to the point that they would "remove" the multi-character search in the phonebook? i'm being somewhat sarcastic here, but i really can't think of a good reason as to why they should do that...

I have no idea... I'm quite annoyed about it too as I have an chinese version of the K750i

I have upgraded to R3M008 and after that my carhandsfree HCA-20 stopped working. It sucks. The real model for the S700 is HCA-200 but until R3M it worked just fine with my HCA-20. If I want to continue to use my handsfree in my car I'll have to change the main box to a HCA-200 for about $125.
