Hope you guys have all had a bril weekend.
Now that my study is finally finished I've now had a chance to unpack boxes of stuff that I've had stowed in boxes for years.
Found some more of my 13-years old army photos and now Mrs. A has been enjoying telling me how different I looked with such short hair back then.
What an epic movie Munich was; no mistaking the broad SA accent in the movie as well. It certainly followed most of the events that unfolded with some accuracy, so this added to my appreciation for the movie.
Hope The Proteas are somehow able to bat out the entire fifth day of that test match; a big responsibility on the current captain, who led by example today.

My weekend, which only started last night was ok. Enjoyed DJ Green Lantern, he was certainly worth the 100 bucks we paid. This morning, I did something shocking...so shocking...as a result I felt like crap the whole day.
@da wanqsta: Glad you enjoyed Munich...it's a bit long but still is good movie and explains the Israeli psyche quite well, especially when looking at current events unfolding in the Middle East.

The weekend has been relatively quiet, since my daughter and her friends spent most of it at my cuz's place. I've been mostly left to my own devices, so my time has been spent reading, reading and reading, apart from taking Mrs.K to do some shopping (for clothing for me, lol. I positively loathe buying clothes, i'd rather postpone it whenever possible) and visiting a few favourite haunts for coffee and supper. Oh, Wanqa, you're right, i do recall that Friends in Vincent. The subsequent owners who renamed it San Francisco also opened another branch down here, late in last year.
Ja well, Monday is looming large, mense... I'm at a 3day workshop from tomorrow onwards, ironically it's all about conflict resolution. The lady who's the chief facilitator was very involved in the peace process in Burundi a few years ago, as well as in quite a number of troubled African states. I'm rather keen to hear how she'd sort out this mess in the Middle East...

Had a quiet weekend too. Made sure I was in bed until 4pm yesterday. I really needed the rest.... had to cancel all my romantic engagements. I also finished 3 Indiana Jones's and one Jackie Chan.
Congrats... Y'all have overtaken the Proudly Nigerian thread....and are back in the lead... again.

Exactly what we've been speaking about...
"Children in South Africa are at risk of being approached online by sex predators, who then could groom them for sex and make dates to meet them.
Children's organisations are concerned for the safety of local children after a London schoolgirl went missing after she made a date to meet an older man who had become her friend in an online chat room.
According to a Daily Mail report, the 15-year-old girl, Hannah Rodrigues, is still missing even though the perpetrator has been arrested and charged with child abduction and sexual grooming over the Internet.
Police are now in the process of going through Rodrigues's computer records in fears that she might have made arrangements to meet with another person.
Local organisation officials are now saying that these incidents are occurring locally on a regular basis with children being soft targets for exploitation by paedophiles and adults wanting to expose them to pornography.
Joan van Niekerk, national director of Childline, gave details of one incident where a local schoolgirl met a "friend" while on the Internet.
"These friends usually target vulnerable, emotional children after gaining their trust. They start off by asking general questions like what sites they surf, by complimenting them and by making them comfortable with them," she said.
"It seems safe and children don't even realise they are being groomed for sexual exploitation." Van Niekerk said that by the time the predators offered to meet in person, the children felt so safe that they willingly
agreed.
She also said that when the meeting did occur, the schoolgirl had intercourse with the perpetrator.
"Children don't realise how dangerous the situation could become and because they feel like they are meeting someone familiar, they don't think twice," said Niekerk.
Parents are being advised to discuss issues with their children and also to have strict access conditions when it came to their children's usage of cellphones and the Internet."

@da krypsta: I've got a whole bunch of young nieces and I do get worried that they might become the victims of a sexual predator. But like the article says towards the end, parents have an important role to play in teaching their children some of the signs.
@francois: I didn't do anything of that sort.
@coola: I don't think I care about the numbers as long as this thread is good-natured and informative.

Speaking of good-natured, a massive pantechnicon overturned at one of the busiest intersections this morning. This happened moments before i arrived on the scene. Traffic was backed up wickedly as a result- but here's the odd thing: nobody lost their tempers, or carried on about being late for work. It was obvious that nobody was going to be going anywhere in a hurry, so eventually everybody settled down to await the traffic officials to restore some sort of vehicular order. The newspaper vendor did some thriving business, an enterprising informal trader selling "amagwinya" (sic) sold out her entire stock within minutes! And the beauty of it all was that there were no people blaring their horns, or growing hot under the collar. My kinda accident

I have 2 sisters as well: funny encounter in the kitchen at about 1am, one of the few times i actually got to see the one. She asked me if I knew mxit, and went on how evil it is and that everyone at school has it. at this point i had to pick myself off up from the floor and try to not laugh too much...the impression the You and Huisgenoot must have left amazes me!
I then explained it to my sister, what it does, showed her a chat room, how dumb the names in there are, how stupid the chatting is, and told her the chat rooms is but one function, and the one function that is causing the problems. Other than that it is just a communications agent that is useful to keep contact to friends.
So from our side, we should look out for those in our lives. i have it easy: my sisters have boyfriends, gprs on their phones is full of bollocs, so I don't think they will even bother with mxit or such. they are too busy with their current lives. i am the hopeless nerd in the family...
