OK i have the XP pro cd but i was told i needed the 6 XP setup disks (which i downloaded from microsoft) first....
so i went through all the disks then inserted my XP pro disk then converted all my disk to NFTL then i got the error message as mentioned in my link....
now i cant even reformat that damn hard drive? altough i'm sure there must be a way?
hmmmm... nothing is ever as easy as it seems...

XP cd is bootable.
Make sure your pc boots from the cd first in bios.
switch on with cd in drive
then just follow the instructions
when you get to the bit about file system use NTFS but don't do the quick version.

And when i formatted the HD i didn't use the quick version... but the error came up... then i tried the quick version and the same error came back up?
Now i need to know how to reformat that DAMN hard drive so i can start again?
Thanks for your help!

When you ran Fdisk did you try deleting the NTFS partition???? then making it a FAT 32 partition again. Also is this HD a new one or an old one, cause if it is a new one it may be too big for 98 to recognise, as i had this problem with my 80 gig one. 98 would only recognise it as a 8 gig.
